Internationalist Communist League ( pt, Liga Comunista Internacionalista) was a Trotskyist political party in Portugal. LCI was founded in 1973. It became the Portuguese section of the reunified Fourth International. Workers Revolutionary Party (Portugal)
The Workers Revolutionary Party ( pt, Partido Revolucionário dos Trabalhadores) was a left-wing political party in Portugal. It was founded on January 31, 1975. The party had a Trotskyist orientation, following the line known as ''"morenista"'' after Nahuel Moreno. PRT published ''Combate Socialista''. PRT was in sympathy with, but not affiliated to, the reunified Fourth International. In 1978 PRT merged into the Revolutionary Socialist Party, which eventually became part of the Left Bloc. In 1963, following a ten-year schism, the majorities of the two public factions of the Fourth International, the International Secretariat and the International Committee, reunited, electing a United Secretariat of the Fourth International. In 2003, the United Secretariat was replaced by an Executive Bureau and an International Committee, although some other Trotskyists still refer to the organisation as the USFI or USec. Background The ISFI was the leadership body of the Fourth International, established in 1938. Trotskyism is the political ideology and branch of Marxism developed by Ukrainian-Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and some other members of the Left Opposition and Fourth International. Revolutionary Socialist Party (Portugal)
The Revolutionary Socialist Party ( pt, Partido Socialista Revolucionário, , or PSR) was a small left-wing party in Portugal, founded in 1978 after the merger of two Trotskyist parties: the Internationalist Communist League ( LCI) and the Workers Revolutionary Party (, PRT). The LCI and PRT were both part of the reunified Fourth International. The International recognised the PSR as its Portuguese section. In 1998 Party renamed itself in order to join with some other left-wing parties in founding the Left Bloc (Portuguese: Bloco de Esquerda or BE). The organisation retains the acronym PSR, and has become the association "Revolutionary Socialist Politics". The historical leader of the PSR is Francisco Louçã, who would become leader of the Left Bloc. Francisco Anacleto Louçã (; born 12 November 1956 in Lisbon) is a Portugal, Portuguese economist and politician. Biography He is the second son of António Seixas Louçã, a Portuguese Navy officer (armed forces), Officer, and his wife Noémia da Rocha Neves Anacleto, lawyer, granddaughter of António Neves Anacleto, from Silves, Portugal, Silves, brother of Isabel Maria, António, João Carlos and Jorge Manuel, and cousin of Vítor Gaspar, former Ministry of Finance (Portugal), Minister of Finances at the right winged Pedro Passos Coelho's government. Louçã was an active opponent of the pre-democracy regime. He was arrested for a protest against the colonial war in 1972, before the fall of the dictatorship, which lasted in Portugal for about forty years and finished with the Carnation Revolution, (25 April 1974).
