International Wheelset Congress
The International Wheelset Congress (IWC) was founded by Lucchini in 1963. The first congress took place in Bergamo, Italy, in that year. Since then, with only two exceptions it has been held every third year. The International Wheelset Congress is the oldest railway technical conference in the world. One of the premier international rail conferences, The International Wheelset Congress, attracts engineers from the international rail community. The congress provides a platform for rail operators, equipment builders, component suppliers, academia and government, regulatory and standards organisations. Lucchini RS S.p.A. (formerly Lucchini Sidermeccanica S.p.A. and where the acronym "RS" stands for "rolling stock") is an Italian company, fully owned by the Lucchini family through a financial holding called Sinpar S.p.A. and divided from Gruppo Lucchini, which was under Russian control of Alexei Mordashov and Severstal from 2005 till 2007. In 2008 the Lucchini family took back the control of Lucchini RS. Lucchini RS specialises in steel products such as railways products, steel casting, forgings, tool steels and forge ingots. A wheelset is a pair of railroad vehicle wheels mounted rigidly on an axle such that both wheels rotate in unison. Wheelsets are often mounted in a bogie ("truck" in North America) – a pivoted frame assembly holding at least two wheelsets – at each end of the vehicle. The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is a convention centre in Cape Town, South Africa. The centre opened in June 2003. It is run as a partnership between the City of Cape Town and the Western Cape government.
