Innisfil Public Library
The Innisfil Public Library is a public library system in Ontario, Canada. The library is a three-branch system. Each branch provides unique services to the community. The branches are located in Stroud, Cookstown, and Alcona. The Churchill Branch of Innisfil Library was closed in 2022. History Documents state that as early as 1898, there was a library board in existence in Cookstown. In the early 1900s, books were housed in a building near what is now the intersection of Highways 27 and 89. Over the years, the library moved several times and was run by different boards until 1964. At that time the library board moved the books to the present location, then known as the Veterans Hall. Following the 1991 amalgamation process, Cookstown Public Library became a branch of the Innisfil Public Library system. Cookstown, Ontario
Innisfil is a town in Ontario, Canada, located on the western shore of Lake Simcoe in Simcoe County, immediately south of Barrie and north of Toronto. It has historically been a rural area, but due to being geographically sandwiched in between the high-growth areas of Barrie area and York Region has meant greater residential development in Innisfil. Etymology The name ''Innisfil'' comes from the Irish ''Inis Fáil'', an ancient mythological name for Ireland. History The history of Innisfil spans a period in excess of 170 years. The Town was hewn from almost unbroken virgin forests which had been home to the Huron Indians, and was first surveyed in 1820. Ask Ontario (askON) is a realtime chat and SMS-based research information service that connects students of Ontario, Canada to staff at college libraries across the province, for instant-messaging and SMS-based reference help online. askON's mandate is to help visitors find better information than they can on their own, and to raise the profile of Ontario's libraries as providers of services and tools, responsive to the needs of an increasingly digitally literate society.
