Indira Nagar ( ta, இந்திரா நகர்) is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. The region was developed by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It contains residential plots, apartments, commercial complexes, large arterial roads, school zones, bus terminals, and slums. Indira Nagar is an example of a government-planned town established by the TNHB. In comparison to other TNHB developments such as Anna Nagar, K.K. Indira Nagar is a railway station on the Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System, Chennai MRTS. Located opposite the Institute of Chemical Technology on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR), it exclusively serves the Chennai MRTS. Besant Nagar is an upscale, exclusive residential neighbourhood in South Chennai, India. It is located along the coast of Bay of Bengal. Ashok Nagar is a residential locality situated at the southern part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1964. At the heart of this colony, stands the Ashok Pillar. This four lion head stump, resembles the one erected by king Ashoka during the 3rd century BCE at Sanchi.
