Indian Creek is a stream in northeastern Douglas County, Missouri, Douglas County and northwestern Howell County, Missouri, Howell County in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. It is a tributary of the North Fork River (Missouri–Arkansas), North Fork River. The stream source is adjacent to U.S. 63 just south of Sterling, Missouri, Sterling and northwest of Willow Springs, Missouri, Willow Springs. The stream flows south then turns west north of and parallel to Missouri Route 76 and enters Douglas County. The stream turns to the southwest and passes under Route 76–Missouri Route 181, 181 concurrency. The stream meanders southwest to its confluence with the North Fork south of the Topaz, Missouri, Topaz Mill and adjacent to Round Valley Knob. Route 76 is a highway in the west half of southern Missouri running between U.S. Route 60 and U.S. Route 63 at Willow Springs and the Oklahoma state line near Tiff City where it continues as a county road. Mark Twain National Forest (MTNF) is a U.S. United States National Forest, National Forest located in the southern half of Missouri. MTNF was established on September 11, 1939. It is named for author Mark Twain, a Missouri native. The MTNF covers of which is public owned, of which are Wilderness, and National Scenic River area. MTNF spans 29 counties and represents 11% of all forested land in Missouri.
