Impressions Games
Impressions Games was a British video game developer founded by David Lester. He sold the company to Sierra On-Line in 1995, who was then bought out by Cendant and eventually, Vivendi Universal (now known as Vivendi SA). Impressions specialized in historical strategy games and is best known for its City Building Series, which include ''Caesar'', ''Pharaoh'', '' Zeus: Master of Olympus'', and '' Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom''. In 1998, Impressions Games was the most profitable division of Havas Interactive, with $20 million in net profit. This surpassed Blizzard Entertainment for the period, according to CNET Gamecenter. Mike Ryder, former president of Sierra Entertainment, forced a change in management in October 2001, during development of ''Lords of the Realm III''. Rod Nakamoto was installed as the new director. ''Lords III'' became Impressions's final game, and was released to mediocre reviews in March 2004. The studio was shut down in April 2004 when Vivendi Univer ...

Caesar II
''Caesar II'' is a 1995 video game of the ''Caesar'' video game series that takes place in Ancient Rome. It is the second game in the '' City Building'' series. Gameplay When the game begins the Roman empire extends no further than Italy. Players have the opportunity to civilize adjacent barbarian provinces, eventually reaching the entire Roman Empire at its height. When a province is civilized it unlocks the surrounding provinces. A computerized rival also completes missions both preventing the player from civilizing that province and allowing them to civilize the provinces adjacent to it (the computer has been known to civilize a province it could not have selected when it successfully civilized the last, meaning it is a randomized event, rather than AI). Unlike ''Caesar III'', or ''Pharaoh'', the province and city are separate spheres, as is the military. The player builds primary sector facilities (such as mines or farms), trade facilities (such as roads or docks), and milita ...

Front Lines
''Front Lines'' is a 1994 computer wargame for MS-DOS developed and published by Impressions Games. Gameplay ''Front Lines'' is a wargame with a turn-based play system, using vehicles. Reception In ''PC Gamer US'', William R. Trotter called ''Front Lines'' "a well-designed product that should have wide appeal." '' Next Generation''s reviewer was negative toward the game, and stated that " st fans of war games will find ''Front Lines'' a good example of the genre (if a little predictable), but everyone else's eyes will surely glaze over after a few minutes of play." Legacy Following the completion of ''Front Lines'', Impressions Games began work on a remake focused on the American Civil War. The team drifted away from this concept as development progressed. The project became '' Robert E. Lee: Civil War General''. Impressions' Jeffrey Fiske later called ''Front Lines'' "a high-quality graphics program which, if it had done a little more time in development, would have had m ...

When Two Worlds War
''When Two Worlds War'' is a 1993 video game by Impression Games. It is a strategic simulation of interplanetary conflict. Critical reception Amiga Format thought the game was neither simplistic nor shallow. Meanwhile, ''CU Amiga Magazine'' felt the game was identical to ''Utopia'' in every way, sans the fun. ''Computer Gaming World''s Martin Cirulis praised the packaging and the manuals, with the interface being described as "exceptionally clear and easy to use." On the gameplay front, he felt that the game lacked personality, with "potential strengths... left unexplored." He found the AI too easy to win against, even at the highest level. Overall, he thought that while the game was not bad, the delivery fell short of the potential, comparing the game to getting ''Battlestar Galactica'' when ''Star Wars ''Star Wars'' is an American epic film, epic space opera multimedia franchise created by George Lucas, which began with the Star Wars (film), eponymous 1977 film and qui ...

Global Domination (video Game)
''Global Domination'' is a 1993 strategy game modeled closely on the board game ''Risk''. Impressions Games expanded on the game dividing the world into more territories, adding unit types which could be controlled in a mini-game, adding the concept of unit obsolescence, valuing regions higher or lower than others (for income), and adding the ability to fund intelligence operations. Gameplay Like ''Risk'', ''Global Domination'' is a turn-based game. Each game starts with the players being allocated a few random territories across the globe. The player would then be allocated a certain number of points to invest in purchasing units, researching technology or spending in intelligence operations. Players could then use their units to claim neutral or "brown" territories or to invade other player territories. Players would often have to be careful not to spread their forces too thin, lest they risk their territories revolting (or turning into "purple territories"). The game has four sc ...

''Air Bucks'' is a business simulation game about running an airline. It involves purchasing landing rights for cities around the globe. In 1993, an enhanced version was released for the Amiga as ''Air Bucks v1.2''. Gameplay The game begins in 1946, after the Second World War. Using default settings, the player controls the airline "Air Bucks" with three AI competitors; all are based in the city of Miami. Each player purchases landing rights for a surrounding airport not more than 1,000 miles away, as the only plane available at the beginning (the Douglas DC-3) has a range of 1,000 miles. Usually the first landing rights purchased are in either New York or Washington D.C. Aside from the initial base airport (Miami by default, but customizable) only two airlines can have landing rights to any one airport.
