Imme Dros
Imme Dros (born 26 September 1936, Oudeschild, Texel) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Life Dros grew up on the island of Texel. She studied Dutch in Amsterdam. There she met her husband Harrie Geelen, with whom she had three children. As a homemaker, she wrote her first book in 1971. Her husband has illustrated several of her books. She currently resides in Hilversum. Work In the 1970s, Dros wrote books mainly about animals. Young adolescents were her main theme in the 1980s, during which time she also shifted towards writing for a younger audience. From the 1990s on she made the classic works of Homer and other Greek mythology stories into new forms. For example, her book ''Odysseus : een man van verhalen'' describes how Odysseus attempts to return home after the Trojan War. It is written in a rather poetic style of writing. Trojan War
In Greek mythology, the Trojan War was waged against the city of Troy by the Achaeans (Greeks) after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta. Jaap Lamberton
Jaap Lamberton (1941 or 1946 - 1991) was a Dutch illustrator of comics and children's literature. Lamberton collaborated with Harrie Geelen on commercials and animated cartoons. He was one of the last remaining artists to work at the comics department of Toonder Studios by Marten Toonder, together with Richard Klokkers and Frits Godhelp. He also illustrated the ''Panda'' comic strip series with stories written by Harrie Geelen and Ruud Straatman. He was production coordinator for the animated feature film ''The Dragon That Wasn't (Or Was He?)''. In 1993, he was posthumously awarded the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs for illustrating ''Een heel lief konijn'', written by Imme Dros. The award is not given for a particular work but for the entire oeuvre. The award is named after Dutch writer, teacher and socialist politician Theo Thijssen. Margriet Heymans
Margriet Heymans (born 29 October 1932) is a Dutch writer and illustrator of children's literature. Heymans wrote and illustrated various books in collaboration with her sister Annemie Heymans, including ''Het poppenfeest'' (1971), ''De gele draad'' (1982), ''Adam Wortel krijgt bezoek'' (1986) and ''De prinses van de moestuin'' (1991). Early life Heymans was born in 1932 in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. After attending a gymnasium Heymans studied for two years at the ''School voor Kunst en Kunstnijverheid'' in 's-Hertogenbosch. She then moved to Amsterdam to study at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten. Career Heymans first published in 1958 in children's magazine ''Kris Kras''. The Woutertje Pieterse Prijs (Dutch for Woutertje Pieterse Prize) is an annual Dutch literary award for the best children's book of the preceding year. History The award was first given in 1988. The award is awarded annually in March or April. The award is named after the character Woutertje Pieterse in ''Ideeën'' written by Multatuli. The award's name refers to the character's curiosity and tendency to go against society's morals. In a similar way, the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs is awarded to books that differ from children's literature with a didactic or moralistic nature. Some authors have received the award multiple times, including Toon Tellegen (1992, 1994), Joke van Leeuwen (1997, 1999) and Paul Biegel (1991, 2000).
