Ikram Khan
Ikram Khan is a famous singer from Rajasthan, India. He hails from a family of musicians belonging to the Sikar Gharana. He was initiated and groomed by his father, Ustad imamudeen Khan, who was also a very famous sarangi player from Jaipur. He uses thicker non-traditional strings on his sarangi, which gives his music a deep and unique tone. Ikram-Ji began taking lessons from his uncle, Shri Gulab Khan, and Shri Liyakat Ali Khan of Mumbai. Influenced by Ustad Sultan Khan, he became a Gandha Bandhan Disciple in 1989. Since that time, Ikram Khan has accompanied many of the leading musicians of India including Kishan Maharaj, Gulkam Mustafa Khan, Rashid Khan, Ulhas Kashalkar, Ustad Sultan Khan, and Hidayat Khan and has achieved international recognition. Ulhas Kashalkar
Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar (born 14 January 1955) is a Hindustani classical vocalist. He has received training in the Gwalior, Jaipur and Agra gharanas, and is considered one of the finest representative of all three schools. Early life Ulhas was born in Nagpur. He received his first lessons in music from his father N D Kashalkar, a lawyer by profession and an amateur vocalist and musicologist. He went on to study music at Nagpur University, topping his post-graduate class. Around that time, he trained under Rajabhau Kogje and P N Khardenavis. Rashid Khan (musician)
Ustad Rashid Khan (born 1 July 1968) is an Indian classical musician in the Hindustani music tradition. He belongs to the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana, and is the great-grandson of gharana founder Inayat Hussain Khan. He is married to Soma Khan. In a story told in several versions, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi once remarked that Rashid Khan was the "assurance for the future of Indian vocal music". The SRA site gives the Bhimsen Joshi accolade as: "One of the most notable torchbearers of the Hindustani classical tradition in the twenty first century" He was awarded the Padma Shri, as well as the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006. Pandit Kishan Maharaj (3 September 1923 – 4 May 2008) was an Indian tabla player who belonged to the Benares gharana of Hindustani classical music. Early life and background Kishan Maharaj ji was born in Kabir Chaura, Benaras into a family of professional musicians. He was initially trained in classical music by his father, Hari Maharaj.
