Ian Hallam
Ian Hallam (born 24 November 1948), is a retired British international cyclist, a dental surgeon, and the owner of two award-winning clinicsMeon DentalanMeon Face Cycling career He competed at three Olympic Games in both individual and team pursuit and won the Olympic Bronze medal in Team Pursuit in 1972 Munich and 1976 Montreal Games. He represented England and won a gold medal in the 4,000 metres individual pursuit, at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland. Four years later he won four medals at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand; he won double gold in the 4,000 metres individual pursuit and 4,000 metres team pursuit in addition to two bronze medals for the scratch race and time trial. A winner of 25 national track titles and was also a member of the British pursuit squad that twice finished as runners-up at the World Track Championships. Basford, Nottingham
Basford is a northerly suburb of Nottingham, England, incorporated into the city in 1877. It gave its name to Basford Rural District, which existed from 1894 to 1974. The ward population at the 2011 census was 16,207, estimated at 16,779 in 2019. Next to Old Basford is New Basford, which is mainly Victorian. Basford lies close to the River Leen, a tributary of the River Trent. Petersfield
Petersfield is a market town and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is north of Portsmouth. The town has its own railway station on the Portsmouth Direct line, the mainline rail link connecting Portsmouth and London. The British National Derny Championships are annual bicycle races held in the United Kingdom. The event was originally run as a motor paced event behind the larger stayer motors, but in 2000 a demonstration championship was run using derny bikes, opening the championship up to wider participation. The first official championship took place in 2001 for the Ron Pugsley Trophy. The British Cycling National Derny Paced Championship is run over 30 km. The event was known as the amateur motor paced championships from 1970 to 1993, and simply the motor paced championships from 1994 to 1999; it was held at a distance of 50 km.
