British National Track Championships
The British National Track Championships are held annually and organised by British Cycling (formerly the British Cycling Federation). The main events are various track cycling disciplines for elite athletes to determine the British national champions. However, competitions are also held in age and disability categories. Until 1994 both amateur and professionals could take part in the 'Open' events, in addition to specific events that were restricted to either. The modern era is considered to have started in 1994 eventually replacing the amateur era. In November 1994, British Cycling moved its headquarters to the National Cycling Centre, Manchester, which held been opened earlier in the year by Princess Anne. Consequently, the Championships were held at Manchester Velodrome from 1995 to 2020. The 2021 Championships were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the delayed Olympic Games and the 2022 National Championships were held at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome. ...

Paul Medhurst (cyclist)
Paul Medhurst (12 December 1953 – 26 September 2009) born in Scunthorpe, was a track cyclist with dual British-New Zealand nationality. Cycling career He won the bronze medal in the men's tandem sprint at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games partnering Philip Harland representing New Zealand. He competed for Great Britain in the Cycling at the 1976 Summer Olympics – Men's 1000m time trial, 1000m time trial event at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Hugh Cameron is a champion racing cyclist, having won the madison at the British National Track Championships in three consecutive years with Paul Curran. Maurice Burton (cyclist)
Maurice Burton (born 25 October 1955) is an English cycle shop owner and former racing cyclist from Catford, London. Born in London to an English mother and a Jamaican father, Maurice Burton was the first black British champion in cycling. His first taste of success came when he won the Junior Sprint national title in 1973. He won the amateur scratch title the following year, raced over a 20 km distance although he was booed as he crossed the line. He went on to represent Britain at the 1974 Commonwealth Games, but was not selected for the Olympic squad in 1976. Burton became frustrated by the racism pervasive in Britain at the time, he moved to Belgium in 1977, basing himself in Ghent. He was described as the first black professional cyclist. Burton rode 56 professional Six Day events, and retired from competitive cycling after a serious racing accident at the Buenos Aires Six Day in 1984.
