ISO 20252:2019 is an international quality standard first published in 2006 as a replacement for the existing British Standards BS 7911:2003. It was subsequently revised in 2012, and then restructured and technically revised in this third edition. Coverage Developed by an ISO Technical Committee in liaison with professional bodies EFAMRO, ESOMAR and WAPOR, the standard sets out requirements in a quality management system for organizations conducting market, opinion and social research. ESOMAR
ESOMAR is a membership organization for market, social, and opinion researchers that was founded in 1947. The name ESOMAR is an abbreviation of their original name, the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research, which reflects the original catchment of the organisation. ESOMAR has published an ethics and guidance code for its members since 1948, with a joint code being published with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) since 1977. History ESOMAR was founded in 1947. In 1948 the first version of code of practice for members was published. WAPOR
The World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) is an international professional association of researchers in the field of survey research. It is a member organization of the International Science Council. History Established in 1947 at the Second International Conference on Public Opinion Research held in Williamstown, Massachusetts as the World Congress on Public Opinion Research, the association acquired its current name in 1948, at the Third International Conference on Public Opinion Research. In 1953, it became the sole nongovernment consultant organization to UNESCO in the field of polling. Its current president is Timothy P. Johnson (University of Illinois Chicago) and the vice president is Robert Chung (Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute, in Hong Kong). A quality management system (QMS) is a collection of business processes focused on consistently meeting customer requirements and enhancing their satisfaction. It is aligned with an organization's purpose and strategic direction (ISO 9001:2015). It is expressed as the organizational goals and aspirations, policies, processes, documented information, and resources needed to implement and maintain it. Early quality management systems emphasized predictable outcomes of an industrial product production line, using simple statistics and random sampling. By the 20th century, labor inputs were typically the most costly inputs in most industrialized societies, so focus shifted to team cooperation and dynamics, especially the early signaling of problems via a continual improvement cycle. The Market Research Society is a professional body for market research based in London, England. It was established in 1946 at the offices of the London Press Exchange. It represents the views of its members to government and in the press. MRS recognise 5,000 individual members and over 500 accredited Company Partners in over 50 countries.
