The World Masters Games is an international multi-sport event held every four years which, in terms of competitor numbers, has developed into the largest of its kind. Governed by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), the World Masters Games is open to sports people of all abilities and most ages – the minimum age criterion ranges between 25 and 35 years depending on the sport. European Masters Games
The European Masters Games (EMG) is a multi-sport event, consisting of summer sports, that is held every four years. The European Masters Games are owned by the International Masters Games Association ( IMGA), who also own the World Masters Games. The age categories vary depending on the sport but the competition is generally for people 30–35 years or older. The first games were held in 2008 in Malmö, Sweden. The European Masters Games are held once every four year, while the last games were held in 2015 in Nice, France, the next games will be celebrated in Turin, Italy, in 2019. The International Masters Games Association (IMGA), which is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is the body responsible for the bidding and placing of the games. The Asia Pacific Masters Games is a regional multi-sport event which involves participants from the Asia-Pacific region. Governed by the International Masters Games Association ( IMGA), the Asia Pacific Masters Games is open to participants of all abilities and most ages – the minimum age criterion ranges between 25 and 35 years depending on the sport. Participants compete for themselves, instead of their countries. There are no competition qualification requirements apart from the age requirement and membership in that sport's governing body. The Malaysian state of Penang hosted the event's first edition between 8 and 15 September 2018. The Pan American Masters Games or Americas Masters Games is a regional multi-sport event which involves participants from the Americas region. Governed by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), the Americas Masters Games is open to participants of all abilities and most ages – the minimum age criterion is 30 years. Participants compete for themselves, instead of their countries. There are no competition qualification requirements apart from the age requirement and membership in that sport's governing body. 2025 Summer World Masters Games
The 2025 Summer World Masters Games (), commonly known as Taipei & New Taipei 2025, is a forthcoming international multi-sport event that is scheduled to take place from 17 May to 30 May 2025 in Taipei and New Taipei, Taiwan. It will be third international multi-sport event to be held in Taipei–Keelung metropolitan area after the 2009 Summer Deaflympics and 2017 Summer Universiade. Bidding process The three candidate cities were Taipei/ New Taipei, Paris and Perth. Host city selection The International Masters Games Association (IMGA) voted to select the host city of the 2025 Summer World Masters Games on 21 October 2020, Taipei/ New Taipei was selected, and sign contract on 23 December 2020.
