I-Pass (Taiwan)
The iPASS (Chinese: 一卡通) is a contactless smartcard operated by the iPASS Corporation. Starting from February 13, 2017, both EasyCard and iPASS in Taiwan are accepted for virtually all public transport including Kaohsiung Metro, Taipei Metro, buses and TRA. It also serves as an electronic wallet. It is available for purchase at all Kaohsiung and Taipei metro stations, and some convenience stores. History The iPASS was originally operated by KRTC. It was released in 2007 and began to operate in 2008 along with the opening of KMRT. In 2014, the operation of iPASS was transferred to iPASS Corporation. is a Japanese convenience store franchise chain. It is Japan's second largest convenience store chain, behind 7-Eleven. Jiji Line
The Jiji Line () is a branch line of the Taiwan Railways Administration, located in Changhua and Nantou Counties in Taiwan. The length of the line is 29.7 km. History The line was originally built by Taipower in 1922 to facilitate the construction of Mingtan Pumped Storage Hydro Power Plant in Sun Moon Lake. Afterwards, the colony government purchased the route in 1927. The line was severely damaged in the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake on 21 September 1999, but was repaired and resumed operations in February 2002. In March 2010 service on the line was suspended in order for work to be performed on seven railway tunnels between Zhuoshui Station and Checheng Station. The maintenance repaired damage that the tunnels had sustained during the 1999 earthquake and expanded the tunnels' width. The line reopened on July 9, 2011. Neiwan Line
The Neiwan line () is a railway branch line in Taiwan operated by the Taiwan Railways Administration. It is located in Hsinchu County. History The Neiwan line was completed on 11 September 1951. It became a popular tourist site in the early 2000s. A through-service between Neiwan and Taipei on Saturdays and Sundays started in 2004. The section between Hsinchu and Zhudong was temporarily closed from 28 February 2007 in order to facilitate the construction of an electrified, dual-track, grade-separated route from Hsinchu through Zhuzhong and, via a new sub-branch line (the Liujia Line), to the newly opened Hsinchu HSR station. Liujia Line
The Liujia Line () is a branch line of the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) Western Line. It is located in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. It was built to link the Western Line to the THSR's Hsinchu Station, speeding up transit times between the two forms of rail service and, by extension, downtown Hsinchu City. The Shen'ao line () is a 4.6 km long, single-track railway branch line of the Taiwan Railways Administration. It runs through Ruifang in New Taipei and Zhongzheng in Keelung. TRA Western Line
Western Trunk line () is a railway line of the Taiwan Railways Administration in western Taiwan. It is by far the busiest line, having served over 171 million passengers in 2016. The total length of the line is 404.5 km. The line is an official classification of physical tracks and does not correspond to particular services. It is connected to Taichung line (''mountain line''; ) at Zhunan and Changhua. Many services turn inland to take the Taichung route, then reconnect back to the main line (West Coast line).
