Hur Jun (TV Series)
''Hur Jun'' () is a South Korean television series about the life of Joseon-era doctor Heo Jun. The period drama was broadcast by MBC from November 22, 1999 to June 27, 2000, and reached record-breaking viewership ratings of 64%. Internationally, it aired on Taiwan Television in 2002 and Hong Kong's TVB in 2005, after the finale of '' Dae Jang Geum'' (which was also directed by ''Hur Jun'' director Lee Byung-hoon). Because of the similarities between the protagonists of both shows, ''Hur Jun'' has often been called the male version of ''Dae Jang Geum''. It aired in Thailand on Channel 3 in 2006. Choi Wan-kyu
Choi Wan Gyu ( 최완규, born August 18, 1964) is a South Korean screenwriter. He is a winner of many awards for his screenwriting. He is said to be the first Korean writer to have written screenplays for both Oriental and Western medical dramas. Selected for MBC Best Theater Scenario Contest "Boring love, funny movie" (1993, his screenwriting debut). Park Joo-mi (born October 5, 1972) is a South Korean actress. Naemyeongbu ( Hangul: 내명부, Hanja: 內命婦), literally Women of the Internal Court, was a category of rank in the royal court of the Joseon dynasty that referred to concubines and female officials living within the palaces. It was separate from the ''Oemyeongbu'' () category, which consisted of royal women living outside the palace. Dongui Bogam
The ''Dongui Bogam'' (동의보감 東醫寶鑑) is a Korean book compiled by the royal physician, Heo Jun (1539 – 1615) and was first published in 1613 during the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. The title literally translates as "A Precious Mirror of Eastern Medicine". The phrase "Precious Mirror" (보감 寶鑑) is a metaphorical idiom meaning 'something which can be modeled after'. Meanwhile, the phrase "Eastern Medicine" (동의 東醫) is not the antonym to 'Western Medicine'; "Dongguk" (동국 東國), meaning "Eastern Country," was one of the names of Korea, in reference to its geographical relation to East Asia. Therefore, the title can be rendered as "An Exemplary Explanation of Korean Medicine" and is listed in UNESCO Memory of the World as "Principles and Practice of Eastern Medicine".
