Choi Wan-kyu
Choi Wan Gyu ( 최완규, born August 18, 1964) is a South Korean screenwriter. He is a winner of many awards for his screenwriting. He is said to be the first Korean writer to have written screenplays for both Oriental and Western medical dramas. Selected for MBC Best Theater Scenario Contest "Boring love, funny movie" (1993, his screenwriting debut). Other notable things in his career: He dropped out of Incheon University English Literature Department; In 2008, he was sued for breach of contract by Always Uki Co., Ltd. and ICBN Co., Ltd; In 2022 he was emprisoned (charges not known). In 2019 he was listed as a habitual high-amount tax delinquent by the South Korean National Tax Service. In 2018, under the South Korean Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Laws, etc., he was sentenced to two years of probation in prison for charges (possibly fraud and gambiing). Baeksang Arts Awards
The Baeksang Arts Awards (), also known as the Paeksang Arts Awards, are awards for excellence in film, television and theatre in South Korea. The awards were first introduced in 1965 by Chang Key-young, the founder of the Hankook Ilbo newspaper, whose pen name was "Baeksang". ''Flowers of the Prison'' () is a 2016 South Korean drama television series starring Jin Se-yeon, Go Soo, Kim Mi-sook, Jung Joon-ho, Park Joo-mi, Yoon Joo-hee, , Jun Kwang-ryul and Choi Tae-joon. ''Swallow the Sun'' () is a 2009 South Korean television series starring Ji Sung, Sung Yu-ri, Lee Wan and Jun Kwang-ryul. It aired on SBS from July 9 to October 1, 2009 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 for 25 episodes. Synopsis The drama opens in the 1960–1970's, with a group of criminals that were brought to Jeju Island for manual labor as punishment under the harsh supervision of troop leaders. Among this group is Kim Il-hwan (Jin Goo), an unrefined, rebellious man with no family and no direction in life. With nothing to lose, Il-hwan escapes from the rest of the infantry after combat with one of the troop leaders, Lee Soo-chang (Ahn Nae-sang). ''Hur Jun'' () is a South Korean television series about the life of Joseon-era doctor Heo Jun. The period drama was broadcast by MBC from November 22, 1999 to June 27, 2000, and reached record-breaking viewership ratings of 64%.
