The Hovhannes Tumanyan Puppet Theatre of Yerevan, officially the Yerevan State Puppet Theatre named after Hovhannes Tumanyan ( hy, Երևանի Հովհաննես Թումանյանի անվան Պետական Տիկնիկային Թատրոն 'Yerevani Hovhannes T'umanyani anvan Petakan Tiknikayin T'atron'), is a puppet theatre founded in 1935 and located in Yerevan, Armenia. Sayat-Nova Avenue ( hy, Սայաթ-Նովայի պողոտա ''Sayat-Nova'i Poghota''), is an avenue in the central Kentron District of Yerevan, Armenia. Hovhannes Tumanyan ( hy, Հովհաննես Թումանյան, classical spelling: Յովհաննէս Թումանեան, – March 23, 1923) was an Armenian poet, writer, translator, and literary and public activist. He is the national poet of Armenia. Tumanyan wrote poems, quatrains, ballads, novels, fables, and critical and journalistic articles. His work was mostly written in realistic form, that frequently revolves around everyday life of his time. Born in the historical village of Dsegh in the Lori region, at a young age Tumanyan moved to Tiflis, which was the centre of Armenian culture under the Russian Empire during the 19th and early 20th centuries. He soon became known to the wide Armenian society for his simple but very poetic works. Many films and animated films have been adapted from Tumanyan's works. Yervand Manaryan
Yervand Manaryan ( hy, Երվանդ Մանարյան; September 20, 1924 – February 19, 2020) was an Iranian-born Armenian actor. Manaryan was born in Arak, Iran in 1924 in a family from Agulis, Nakhichevan. In 1946 his family repatriated to Soviet Armenia along with thousands of other Iranian Armenians. He was an atheist. The actor was a member of the Armenian National Congress of former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Manaryan died in February 2020, aged 95.
