Hercule Dupré
Hercule Dupré (August 11, 1844 – May 3, 1927) was a farmer, lumber merchant and political figure in Quebec. He represented St. Mary in the House of Commons of Canada from 1896 to 1900 as a Liberal. The son of Pierre Dupré, Dupré served as a member of the city council for Montreal from 1894 to 1900. The Acadians (french: Acadiens , ) are an ethnic group descended from the French who settled in the New France colony of Acadia during the 17th and 18th centuries. Most Acadians live in the region of Acadia, as it is the region where the descendants of a few Acadians who escaped the Expulsion of the Acadians (aka The Great Upheaval / ''Le Grand Dérangement'') re-settled. Lord Durham's Report investigating the causes of the Upper and Lower Canada Rebellions recommended merging those two colonies. The new colony, known as the Province of Canada, was created by the Act of Union 1840 passed by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, having effect in 1841. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society (french: Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste) is an institution in Quebec dedicated to the protection of Quebec francophone interests and to the promotion of Quebec sovereignism.
