Palmerston is a planned satellite city of Darwin, the capital and largest city in Australia's Northern Territory. The city is situated approximately 20 kilometres from Darwin and 10 kilometres from Howard Springs and the surrounding rural areas. Palmerston had a population of 33,695 at the 2016 census, making it the second largest city in the Northern Territory. The Litchfield Council is a local government area of the Northern Territory of Australia on the eastern and southeastern outskirts of the Darwin-Palmerston urban area. The municipality covers an area of , and was created by the Northern Territory government on 6 September 1985. Electoral Division Of Goyder
Goyder is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1990, and is named after George Goyder, the South Australian surveyor responsible for carrying out the first freehold surveys in the area. Goyder encompasses large rural areas south of Darwin, covering 9,770 km², and taking in the towns of Bees Creek, Cox Peninsula, Virginia, Marlows Lagoon and parts of Berry Springs and Humpty Doo. When first created, it was even larger extending south to Pine Creek and east to Jabiru and the whole of Kakadu National Park. There were 5,583 people enrolled in the electorate as of August 2020. Goyder was considered a staunch conservative electorate and a very safe seat for the Country Liberal Party for most of its history. __NOTOC__ Koolpinyah is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about east of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality consists of land bounded to the east by the Adelaide River and in part to the north by the Clarence Strait. This locality is named after Koolpinyah Station, a pastoral lease established on land now partly included in the locality in 1908 by Evan and Oscar Herbert, the sons of Charles Edward Herbert, a judge, a politician and a former Government Resident of the Northern Territory. The name is ultimately derived from "Gulpinyah", the aboriginal name for a waterhole located near the station’s homestead. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. Humpty Doo is a small town in Australia's Northern Territory, situated just south of the Arnhem Highway, approximately 40 km from Darwin. At the , Humpty Doo had a population of 4,380 people.
