Völsunga Saga
The ''Völsunga saga'' (often referred to in English as the ''Volsunga Saga'' or ''Saga of the Völsungs'') is a legendary saga, a late 13th-century poetic rendition in Old Norse of the origin and decline of the Völsung clan (including the story of Sigurd and Brynhild and the destruction of the Burgundians). It is one of the most famous legendary sagas and an example of a "heroic saga" that deals with Germanic heroic legend. Lieutenant General Johan ''Helge'' Fritiof Söderbom (21 May 1881 – 3 January 1975) was a senior Swedish Army officer. Söderbom served as head of the Quartermaster Staff from 1928 to 1935 and was Quartermaster-General and as commanding officer of the Swedish Army Quartermaster Corps from 1935 to 1946. Early life Söderbom was born on 21 May 1881 in Ekeberga Parish in Lessebo Municipality, Kronoberg County, Sweden the son of Janne Söderbom and his wife Anna Ekström. Söderbom passed ''mogenhetsexamen'' in Gävle in 1900. His brother Erik Söderbom (1894–1998), was a well-known sports journalist in Scania and chairman of Malmö AIF sports club in Malmö from 1941 to 1943. Helge Rosvaenge (born Helge Anton Rosenvinge Hansen, August 29, 1897June 17, 1972) was a Danish-born operatic tenor whose career was centred on Germany and Austria, before, during and after World War II. His last name is sometimes spelled Roswaenge or Rosvænge. Rosvaenge was born in Copenhagen. However, his life was spent in Germany, and he made his debut at Neustrelitz as Don Jose in ''Carmen'' in 1921. Engagements followed at Altenburg, Basel, Cologne (1927–30) and the Berlin State Opera, where he was leading tenor from 1930 to 1944, being especially distinguished in the Italian repertory. He also sang regularly at the Vienna State Opera from 1936, and in Munich. Rosvaenge also appeared at the Salzburg Festival, making his debut there in ''Der Rosenkavalier''. General Helge Victor Jung (23 March 1886 – 3 January 1978) was a Swedish Army officer. Jung's senior commands include the post of Chief of the Army Staff and the General Staff Corps, commander of the 2nd Army Division, military commander of the II Military District and the IV Military District. Helge Akre (1 March 1903 – 12 May 1986) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was a son of Herman Skyrud (1859–1913) and Oline Akre (1871–1967), and bore his mother's last name from 1933. He took his secondary education in Rouen and graduated from the Royal Frederick University with the cand.jur. degree in 1933. He worked as a translator and attorney before being hired in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1936. He served in Brazil, Japan, China, Poland, the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia in his early career. He was then the consul-general in Rotterdam from 1951 to 1958 and Chicago from 1958 to 1963.
