''Harem'' is the eighth studio album by English singer Sarah Brightman, released in the United States on 10 June 2003 through Angel Records. The album continued the collaboration between Brightman and her longtime producer Frank Peterson. Although it has an inclination towards her signature operatic performance, the album encompasses dance-oriented and uptempo styles in keeping with a celebratory motif. In contrast to the classical crossover music style that framed her previous releases, ''Harem'' showcases a wider range of genres, exploring World music-related styles, such as Arabic and Indian music. ''Harem'' received generally positive reviews. The Arabian-flavoured album was commercially well received in certain territories. It became Brightman's first top 10 album ever in Japan and debuted in Canada at No. 7. It topped the US Top Classical Albums chart for seven consecutive weeks. Sarah Brightman
Sarah Brightman (born 14 August 1960) is an English classical crossover soprano singer, actress and dancer. Brightman began her career as a member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and released several disco singles as a solo performer. In 1981, she made her West End musical theatre debut in ''Cats'' and met composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, whom she later married. She went on to star in several West End and Broadway musicals, including ''The Phantom of the Opera'', where she originated the role of Christine Daaé. Her original London cast album of ''Phantom'' was released in CD format in 1987 and sold 40 million copies worldwide, making it the biggest-selling cast album ever. Kadim Al Sahir
Kadim Jabbar Al Samarai (born September 12, 1957), better known by his stage name Kadim Al Sahir ( ar, كاظم الساهر}), is an Iraqi singer and composer. He typically performs with an orchestra of twenty to thirty musicians on Arabic percussion, oud, qanun, nay, and a full complement of strings (violin, cello, and bass). While some of his work makes use of electronic musical sounds, he avoids the use of synthesizers to imitate acoustic instruments. His work frequently features Iraqi folk instruments, rhythms and melodies. Biography Al Sahir was born in Mosul, Iraq on September 12, 1957, to a Sunni father and a Shia mother from Najaf. Nigel Kennedy (born 28 December 1956) is an English violinist and violist. His early career was primarily spent performing classical music, and he has since expanded into jazz, klezmer, and other music genres. Early life and background Kennedy's grandfather was Lauri Kennedy, principal cellist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and his grandmother was Dorothy Kennedy, a pianist. Lauri and Dorothy Kennedy were Australian, while their son, the cellist John Kennedy, was born in England. The Harem World Tour was the third worldwide concert tour by English soprano singer Sarah Brightman following the release of the ''Harem'' album (2003). The tour began on 10 January 2004 in Mexico City and concluded on 23 December that year in Tokyo, Japan. The Harem tour became Brightman's highest-grossing tour, collecting $60 million in revenue and sold 800,000 tickets, $15 million and 225,000 sales of which came from the North American leg. Dance music is music composed specifically to facilitate or accompany dancing. It can be either a whole musical piece or part of a larger musical arrangement. In terms of performance, the major categories are live dance music and recorded dance music.
