Hüseyin Cemal Akın
Hüseyin Cemal Akın (born 1949, Malatya) is a Turkish people, Turkish lawyer, politician, former Mayor of Malatya and former Member of Parliament for the AK Party. His mayoral term was from 2004 to 2009. Early life and career Hüseyin Cemal Akın was born in Malatya in 1949. He was the son of his father Osman Avni, and mother Çerkez Meliha. He graduated from the Ankara University, Law School and worked for some time as an independent lawyer. He served to terms in the Malatya Baro Presidency. Political career He was the deputy to the party leader of the Demokrat Parti (1992), Demokrat Parti and in the 1999 Turkish general election became a candidate for the Demokrat Partis' Malatya MP seat but was not chosen. Ahmet Çakır
Ahmet Çakır (born 1964) is a Turkish politician and Mayor of Malatya since 29 March 2009. Early life and career Ahmet Çakır was born in 1964 in Darende district in Malatya, Turkey. Çakır completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Darende. He graduated from faculty of economics at Anadolu University. He was a member of Malatya Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD). Çakır is married and has two children. Political career Ahmet Çakır, along with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, co-founded the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) on August 14, 2001. Nationalist Movement Party
The Nationalist Movement Party (alternatively translated as Nationalist Action Party; tr, Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi, MHP) is a Turkish far-right and ultranationalist political party. The group is often described as neo-fascist, and has been linked to some violent paramilitaries and organized crime groups. The party is represented by 48 MPs in the Turkish Parliament which support the AKP government. Its leader is Devlet Bahçeli. The party was formed in 1969 by former Turkish Army colonel Alparslan Türkeş, who had become leader of the Republican Villagers Nation Party (CKMP) in 1965. 2011 Turkish General Election
General elections were held in Turkey on 12 June 2011 to elect the 550 members of Grand National Assembly. In accordance to the result of the constitutional referendum held in 2007, the elections were held four years after the previous elections in 2007 instead of five. The result was a third consecutive victory for the incumbent Justice and Development Party (AKP), with its leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan being re-elected as Prime Minister for a third term with 49.8% of the vote and 327 MPs. This represented an increase of 3.2% since the 2007 general election and an 11.4% rise since the 2009 local elections.
