Hyen
Straume or Hyen is a village in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland, Norway. The village lies near the southern end of the Hyefjorden near the mouths of the rivers Åelva and Hopelva. Straume is located about northeast of the lake Eimhjellevatnet, where the villages of Eimhjellen and Solheim, Sogn og Fjordane, Solheim are located. Hyen Church is located in Straume, serving the whole western part of Gloppen municipality. There are around 600 people living in the Hyen area. The village lies along Norwegian County Road 615 which connects the whole Hyen valley to the municipal center of Sandane to the east and to the village of Eikefjord (village), Eikefjord (in Flora Municipality) to the west. Continuing on from Eikefjord, one can reach the towns of Førde (town), Førde and Florø which are both located along Norwegian National Road 5. The nearby river Åelva is a very good salmon river. Hyen Church
Hyen Church ( no, Hyen kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Straume, near the shore of the Hyefjorden. It is the church for the Hyen parish which is part of the Nordfjord prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1876 by the architect Karl Uchermann. The church seats about 300 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1308, but it was not new at that time. The first church was likely a wooden stave church that was likely built in the 13th century. This church was located at the village of Hope, about west of the present location at Straume. Hyefjorden
Hyefjorden is a fjord in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The long Hyefjorden is relatively narrow with steep rock walls located close to the fjord on both sides. The west side is where impassable mountains plunge straight into the fjord. Norwegian County Road 615 runs on the east side of the bay, with a series of tunnels through avalanche areas. The Hyefjorden flows from the village of Hyen at the south to the north where it flows into the large Nordfjorden. Gloppen Municipality
Gloppen is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. Gloppen is generally subdivided into three areas: Hyen in the west, Gloppen in the center, and Breim in the east. Each of the areas have their own main service centres. Sandane, the administrative centre of the municipality, is the largest with about 2,500 inhabitants. Sandane, Vereide, and Sørstranda are centered on the Gloppefjorden in Gloppen in the central part of the municipality. The villages of Byrkjelo, Re, Kandal, and Egge are centered on the lake Breimsvatnet in the Breim area in the east. The villages of Straume, Eimhjellen, and Solheim are located around the Hyefjorden in Hyen in the west. The whole municipality sits on the southern side of the large Nordfjorden. Solheim is a small village in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies on the western shore of the large lake Eimhjellevatnet, about southwest of the village of Straume in the Hyen area. Eimhjellevatnet or Emhjellevatnet (also known as ''Storfjorden'') is a lake in Hyen area of Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake is located in the western part of the municipality near the border with Kinn Municipality. The villages of Eimhjellen and Solheim can be found along its shore and the village of Straume lies about to the north. The lake lies about southwest of the municipal center of Sandane. is a town and the administrative centre of the municipality of Kinn, Vestland, Norway. The town was founded by royal decree in 1860 as a ladested on the island of Florelandet, located between the Botnafjorden and Solheimsfjorden. Førde is the administrative centre of Sunnfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The town is located at the eastern end of the Førdefjorden, at the mouth of the river Jølstra.
