Førde (town)
Førde is the administrative centre of Sunnfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The town is located at the eastern end of the Førdefjorden, at the mouth of the river Jølstra. The town has a population (2019) of 10,339 and a population density of . On 21 April 1965, the decision was made to develop Førde into a regional center . The Gerhardsen government at the time aimed to reduce the rate of migration from the countryside to the large cities. A total of nine locations were designated in the country, and Førde was one of those that were developed. Førde's population in 1951 was only 3,080, but by 1980, it had grown to 7,086. The Naustdal Tunnel () is a road tunnel connecting the municipalities of Kinn and Sunnfjord in Vestland county, Norway. Florø
is a town and the administrative centre of the municipality of Kinn which is in Vestland county, Norway. The town was founded by royal decree in 1860 as a ladested on the island of Florelandet, located between the Botnafjorden and Solheimsfjorden. Florø is Norway's (and thus the Scandinavian Peninsula's) westernmost town. It is the most western town on the mainland in the Nordic countries. Førde Church
Førde Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sunnfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Førde. It is the church for the Førde parish which is part of the Sunnfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1885 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 475 people. Building Førde Church sits on a small hill overlooking the river Jølstra. The river was originally about to the west, but in the spring of 1780 during an ice storm, the river broke through its shores and changed its course. Førde is a former municipality in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. It was located in the traditional district of Sunnfjord. The administrative center was the town of Førde which in 2016 had 10,255 inhabitants. Other villages in Førde municipality included Bruland, Holsen, Moskog, and Haukedalen. Førde Central Hospital () is a general hospital situated in the Vie neighborhood for Sunnfjord, Norway. It is the main facility of Førde Hospital Trust, part of Western Norway Regional Health Authority. It has 1300 employees and serves as a central hospital for Vestland and as a local hospital for Sunnfjord outer parts of Sogn. Proposals for a central hospital for Sogn og Fjordane arose in the late 1960s. The county council opposed the plans, instead wanting a series of small hospitals throughout the county. The decision was overruled by the Parliament in 1971. Construction started in 1976 and the Central Block opened three years later.
