Hushang Zarif
Houshang Zarif ( fa, هوشنگ ظریف, also Romanized as "Hūshang Zarīf"; December 7, 1938 – March 7, 2020) was a master of tar and Persian classical music. Biography and career Houshang Zarif was born in 1938 in Tehran. He was a graduate of the Persian National Music Conservatory in Tehran; where he studied tar with Mousa Maroufi. Zarif worked with the Fine Arts Administration Orchestra, conducted by Hossein Dehlavi in the 1950s and was the professor of tar at the National Conservatory for several years; Hossein Alizadeh was among his pupils. Zarif died in Tehran on 7 March 2020. Tehran
Tehran (; fa, تهران ) is the largest city in Tehran Province and the capital of Iran. Hossein Dehlavi
Hossein Dehlavi ( fa, حسین دهلوی) (September 30, 1927 – October 15, 2019) was an Iranian peoples, Iranian composer. Biography Hossein Dehlavi was born in 1927 in Tehran, Iran and started music with his father Moezeddin Emami who was a pupil of master Ali-Akbar Shahnazi. Dehlavi studied composition at the Tehran Conservatory of Music with Hossein Nassehi and Heimo Tauber. He studied Persian music with Abolhasan Saba and, from 1957 to 1967, was the principal Conducting, conductor of the Persian Fine Arts Administration Orchestra, also known as Saba Orchestra. Dehlavi started to teach at the Persian National Music Conservatory in Tehran since 1957 and from 1961 until 1950 was the director of this conservatory. Dariush Talai
Dariush Talai plays both the Tar and Setar. Born in 1953 in Iran, he studied Persian music with masters of the Radif. His teachers include Tar player Ali Akbar Shahnazi, Nur Ali Borumand with whom he studied radio and old compositions, as well as Youssef Forutan and Abdollah Davami, with whom he studied Setar and vocal techniques and repertories. Master Talai taught at the University of Tehran, University of Sorbonne-Paris, University of Washington-Seattle and was awarded several major prizes for his contribution to Persian Art Music. Hossein Alizadeh
Hossein Alizadeh ( fa, حسین علیزاده) is an Iranian musician, composer, radif-preserver, researcher, teacher, and tar, shurangiz and setar instrumentalist and improviser. He has performed with such musicians as Shahram Nazeri, Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, Alireza Eftekhari and Jivan Gasparyan, as well as with a number of orchestras and ensembles. Music career Alizadeh was born in 1951 in Tehran. His father was from Urmia and his mother from Arak. As a teenager he attended secondary school at a music conservatory until 1975. His music studies continued at the University of Tehran, where his focus was composition and performance. He began postgraduate studies at the Tehran University of Art.
