2019 Hong Kong Local Elections
The 2019 Hong Kong District Council elections were held on 24 November 2019 for all 18 District Councils of Hong Kong. 452 seats from all directly elected constituencies, out of the 479 seats in total, were contested. Nearly three million people voted, equivalent to 71 per cent of registered voters, an unprecedented turnout in the electoral history of Hong Kong. The election was widely viewed as a ''de facto'' referendum on the 2019 widespread anti-extradition protests. Yuen Long District Council
The Yuen Long District Council () is the district council for the Yuen Long District in Hong Kong. It is one of 18 such councils. The Yuen Long District currently consists of 45 members, of which the district is divided into 39 constituencies, electing a total of 39 with 6 ''ex officio'' members who are the Shap Pat Heung, San Tin, Ha Tsuen, Kam Tin, Ping Shan and Pat Heung rural committee chairmen. Yuen Long District
Yuen Long District (formerly romanised as Un Long) is one of the districts of Hong Kong. Located in the northwest of the New Territories, it had a population of 662,000 in 2021 Geography Yuen Long District contains the largest alluvial plain in Hong Kong, the Yuen Long-Kam Tin plain. With an area of 144 km2, the district covers many traditional villages including Ping Shan Heung, Ha Tsuen Heung, Kam Tin Heung, Fung Kat Heung, Pat Heung, San Tin Heung and Shap Pat Heung, as well as Yuen Long Town and Tin Shui Wai. Hung Fuk Estate () is a public housing estate in Hung Shui Kiu, New Territories, Hong Kong. It comprises nine blocks with a total of 4,905 flats. It was completed in 2015 and is the first public estate in Hung Shui Kiu, which is planned to undergo large-scale development as a new town. History The estate is one of the first large developments in Hung Shui Kiu, which the Hong Kong Government plans to develop into a new town. The Hsin Chong construction company built the first and second phases, comprising four domestic blocks, the single-storey commercial centre, and a three-storey car park. Hung Shui Kiu is an area between Ping Shan and Lam Tei, in the western part of the New Territories of Hong Kong. It covers parts of Yuen Long and Tuen Mun districts. Team Chu Hoi-dick of New Territories West () was a pro-democracy political group based in New Territories West that existed between 2016 and 2021. In the 2019 District Council election, nine people from the group ran and seven were elected, but the group's founder, Eddie Chu, lost. The team was asked by the Returning Officer for its position on "democratic self-determination" when applying for permission to run, and was determined to be eligible based on the answer.
