Humphrey Hose
Humphrey Hose (born 4 May 1947) is a former professional tennis player from Curaçao who represented Venezuela in the Davis Cup. Biography Hose was born in Curaçao and became there the tennis champion at the age of 18. He moved to Venezuela in 1965 and began representing his adopted country in Davis Cup competition. From 1967 to 1971, Hose played collegiate tennis in the United States with the University of Corpus Christi, earning NCAA All-American selection in his final year. Following graduation, he competed on the Grand Prix tennis circuit. He won the doubles title at the Merion Open in 1974 with Roy Barth. Hose played a total of 16 Davis Cup ties for Venezuela, the last in 1979. He finished with a 17/26 record, with 13 of those wins in singles, one of which was over American Dick Stockton in Caracas in 1976. Bob Hewitt
Robert Anthony John Hewitt (born 12 January 1940) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. In 1967, after marrying a South African, he became a South African citizen. He has won 15 major titles and a career Grand Slam in both men's and mixed doubles. In 2015, he was convicted of rape and sexual assault of girls he was coaching in the 1980s and 1990s; Hewitt was sentenced to six years in jail, and was subsequently expelled from the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Early life Hewitt was born and grew up in Dubbo, Australia, 400 kilometres west of Sydney. In the 1970s, he and his South African wife Dalaille (née Nicholas) moved to Johannesburg, South Africa. Julián Ganzábal
Julián Ganzábal (born 25 August 1946) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Biography Ganzábal first played Davis Cup tennis for Argentina in 1967. His career singles highlights include winning the River Plate Championships four times (1968–69, 1973, 1976). He defeated two-time Grand Slam winner Fred Stolle at Gstaad in 1969, but didn't go deep into a Grand Prix tournament until 1972 when he reached the semifinals at home in Buenos Aires. Further semifinals came at Florence in 1974 and Berlin in 1976. As a doubles player he partnered with Davis Cup teammate Lito Álvarez to finish runner-up at Hilversum in 1974. They were beaten in the final by the Argentine pair of Tito Vázquez and Guillermo Vilas. The America Zone was one of the three regional zones of the 1967 Davis Cup. 7 teams entered the America Zone: 4 teams competed in the North & Central America Zone, while 3 teams competed in the South America Zone. The winner of each sub-zone would play against each other to determine who moved to the Inter-Zonal Zone to compete against the winners of the Eastern Zone and Europe Zone. Lance Lumsden
Lancelot Lumsden (30 October 1939 – 18 June 2011) was a Jamaican former professional tennis player. Biography Born in Buff Bay, Lumsden played collegiate tennis in the United States at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in the early 1960s. He went on to compete on the international circuit and featured in the main draws of all four grand slam tournaments, which included a match up against number one seed Rod Laver at the 1968 French Open. Lumsden was a Davis Cup representative for the Caribbean/West Indies and appeared in a total of seven ties. Four of those came against the United States and he twice faced Arthur Ashe in singles. His most famous win came against Ashe in doubles, when the Caribbean/West Indies hosted the Americans in Kingston in 1966. Richard Russell (tennis)
Richard Russell (born 8 September 1945) is a Jamaican former professional tennis player. Biography Russell is the only Jamaican to progress past the first round at all four grand slam tournaments. At the 1966 Australian Championships he won his first round match over Richie Chopra, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Russell won the 1966 Kingston International Championships at Kingston, Jamaica defeating Arthur Ashe in the final in three sets. This was an annual tournament in the international circuit and Russell would be the only Jamaican to win the event. Outside of grand slam competition, he had a noted win over Dennis Ralston in 1972 at an invitational tournament in Puerto Rico.
