Julián Ganzábal
Julián Ganzábal (born 25 August 1946) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Biography Ganzábal first played Davis Cup tennis for Argentina in 1967. His career singles highlights include winning the River Plate Championships four times (1968–69, 1973, 1976). He defeated two-time Grand Slam winner Fred Stolle at Gstaad in 1969, but didn't go deep into a Grand Prix tournament until 1972 when he reached the semifinals at home in Buenos Aires. Further semifinals came at Florence in 1974 and Berlin in 1976. As a doubles player he partnered with Davis Cup teammate Lito Álvarez to finish runner-up at Hilversum in 1974. They were beaten in the final by the Argentine pair of Tito Vázquez and Guillermo Vilas. At his best on clay, Ganzábal reached the third round of the 1976 French Open, his best performance in a Grand Slam tournament. The Swiss Open Gstaad (currently sponsored by EFG International and called the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad) is a tennis tournament held in Gstaad, Switzerland. The tournament is played on outdoor clay courts. Between 1971 and 1989 it was an event of the Grand Prix tennis circuit and is now a part of the ATP Tour schedule as an ATP Tour 250 series event. Alejandro Ganzábal
Alejandro Román Ganzábal (born 16 February 1960) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Career Ganzabal made his Grand Slam debut in the 1981 French Open and managed to reach the third round, beating former finalist Manuel Orantes and American Steve Krulevitz. In 1982 he was runner-up in the Buenos Aires Grand Prix tournament and made quarter-finals at Venice, Boston and Quito. He had an upset win over third seed Eliot Teltscher in Boston. At the French Open that year, Ganzabal defeated Júlio Góes in the opening round but was unable to overcome Mike Myburg in the second round, losing in five sets. His best result in 1983 was at Aix-En-Provence in France, where he was a quarter-finalist. He was defeated by Fernando Luna in the opening round of that year's French Open. ''Trouw'' (; ) is a Dutch daily newspaper appearing in compact size. It was founded in 1943 as an orthodox Protestant underground newspaper during World War II. Guillermo Vilas (; born 17 August 1952) is an Argentine former professional tennis player. Vilas was the No. 1 of the Grand Prix seasons in 1974, 1975 and 1977, and won four Grand Slam tournaments, one year-end Masters, nine Grand Prix Super Series titles and a total of 62 ATP titles. ''World Tennis'', ''Agence France-Presse'' and ''Livre d'or du tennis 1977'' (Christian Collin-Bernard Ficot), among other rankings and publications, rated him as world No. 1 in 1977 (while others ranked Björn Borg or Jimmy Connors No. 1). Modesto "Tito" Vázquez (born 1 January 1949) is a tennis coach and former professional player from Argentina. Biography Vázquez, born in Galicia (Spain), Galicia region of Spain, emigrated to Buenos Aires with his family at a young age. They were one of many Spanish families to move to Argentina after the Spanish Civil War, Civil War. He had his third birthday while on the ship to South America. Playing career A successful junior in Argentina, he went to UCLA and played NCAA Men's Tennis Championship, NCAA tennis from 1967 to 1971 on a team that featured Jimmy Connors. The Dutch Open Tennis Amersfoort (or Dutch Open) originally known as the Netherlands International Championships and Netherland Championships was a tennis tournament played on outdoor clay court and held in three different locations in The Netherlands between 1898 and 2008. Lito Álvarez
Elio "Lito" Álvarez (born 5 December 1947) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Career Álvarez played collegiate tennis for the UCLA Bruins, on the same team as Jimmy Connors, in the early 1970s. He appeared in eight Davis Cup ties for Argentina from 1970 to 1978. He played mainly in doubles rubbers but had two wins in the singles, against Carlos Kirmayr and Luis Felipe Tavares, both of Brazil. His doubles record was 4/4 and his partners included Guillermo Vilas and José Luis Clerc.
