''Human Voice'' is an album by Dntel, released on September 23, 2014. It is Dntel's first LP under the Leaving Records label. Sound The sound of ''Human Voice'' is less lyrical and vocal than his past albums, with emphasis on the warping of human voices and use of synths instead of acoustic arrangements. The first vocalized synth that appears in the album happens to be that of the Casio SK-1 preset that shares the name with the album. Reception ''Human Voice'' received positive reviews from critics. James Scott "Jimmy" Tamborello, also known by his stage name Dntel , is an American electronic music artist and DJ. Aside from his main solo project, Tamborello is also known as a member of the groups The Postal Service, Dntel#Other projects, Headset, and Figurine (band), Figurine, where he is sometimes cited as James Figurine. Personal life Tamborello's father was a jazz saxophone player, flautist, and a songwriter for many Santa Barbara, California-based bands. His mother, Joyce Menges was an actress who starred in the sitcom ''To Rome with Love (TV series), To Rome with Love'' starring John Forsythe, Kay Medford, and Melanie Fullerton, in 1969, and later in the Walt Disney Productions film ''Now You See Him Now You Don't'', starring Kurt Russell, in 1972. Stones Throw Records is an American independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. Under the direction of founder Peanut Butter Wolf, Stones Throw has released music ranging from hip hop to experimental psychedelic rock. ''LA Weekly'' deemed the label an "eternally evolving experiment" in celebration of its 20th anniversary. History Chris Manak, known professionally as Peanut Butter Wolf, founded Stones Throw in 1996 as a means of releasing music he had recorded previously with the subsequently deceased rapper Charles Edward Hicks Jr., known professionally as Charizma. Hicks and Manak met in 1989 at 16 and 19, respectively, and began collaborating as Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf. The duo released one promo cassette of "Red Light Green Light" through Hollywood Basic—the now-defunct hip-hop subsidiary of Hollywood Records—before leaving the label.
