Huaroncocha
Huaroncocha (possibly from Quechua ''waru'' basket or platform of a rope bridge to cross rivers / stony ground or place, precious stones, heaping, stone heap, ''-n'' a suffix, ''qucha'' lake,) is a lake in Peru located in the Pasco Region, Pasco Province, Huayllay District.escale.minedu.gob.pe - UGEL map of the Pasco Province (Pasco Region) It is situated at a height of about , about 9 km long and 2.61 km at its widest point. Huaroncocha lies north of Huascacocha. The western part of the lake is also called Huaroncocha ''Chico'' (Spanish for "small") and the eastern part is named Yanamachay (possibly from Quechua for "black cave"). Huascacocha (Carhuacayan)
Huascacocha (possibly from Quechua ''waskha'' (also ''waska'') rope, ''qucha'' lake,) is a lake in Peru located in the Junín Region, Yauli Province, Carhuacayan District. It is situated at a height of approximately , about 5.10 km long and 0.95 km at its widest point. In 2012 the Huascacocha dam was inaugurated. Huayllay National Sanctuary
Huayllay National Sanctuary is a park in Peru located in the Meseta of Bombón in the Huayllay District of Pasco Region. The sanctuary is noted for the large scenic rock formations of the rock forest of Huayllay (Spanish: ''Bosque de Rocas'') and its native plants and animals. Geology The rock formations date to the beginning of the Cenozoic age. They were initially formed when volcanic activity deposited layers of hardened volcanic ash, or ignimbrite on the landscape, forming a plateau atop layers of sandstone, limestone, and conglomerate. Ignimbrite is a porous rock, so it is particularly vulnerable to erosion. Approximately 20,000 years ago, during the most recent ice age, the cycle of freezing, thawing, and re-freezing of snow on the plateau caused meltwater to filter into the cracks in the rock and enlarge them. Eventually, this resulted in large portions of the rock crumbling away, leaving the deeply eroded formations that now comprise the ''Bosque de Rocas''. The forma ...
