Hsinchu City Government
The Hsinchu City Government (HCCG; ) is the municipal government of Hsinchu City, Taiwan. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in October 1945, the Hsinchu Prefecture Caretaker Commission was established on 9 November the same year. On 17 November 1945, the commission was renamed Hsinchu Municipal Hall and subsequently was succeeded by Hsinchu City Government. The city government moved to the former prefectural administration offices. In 1955, the city government moved again from the former East District Office on Zhongzheng Road to the former high school on Linsen Road. Hsinchu
Hsinchu (, Chinese: 新竹, Pinyin: ''Xīnzhú'', Wade–Giles: ''Hsin¹-chu²'') is a city located in northwestern Taiwan. It is the most populous city in Taiwan Province not among the special municipalities, with estimated 450,655 inhabitants. Hsinchu is a coastal city bordering the Taiwan Strait to the west, Hsinchu County to the north and east, and Miaoli County to the south. Nicknamed the ''Windy City'' for its strong northeastern monsoon during the autumn and winter seasons. Lin Chih-chien
Lin Chih-chien (; born 27 May 1975) is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Mayor of Hsinchu City from 25 December 2014 to 8 July 2022. Early life and education Lin earned his bachelor's degree in business administration followed by a master's degree in technology management from Chung Hua University's College of Management in 2008. In 2017, he obtained a second master's degree from National Taiwan University's Graduate Institute of National Development, where his thesis discussed the 2014 Hsinchu mayoral elections. Both master's degrees were rescinded by the respective institutions after investigations confirmed that Lin had plagiarized his theses for the two degrees. Retrocession Day
Retrocession Day is the name given to the annual observance and a former public holiday in Taiwan to commemorate the end of Japanese rule of Taiwan and Penghu, and the claimed retrocession ("return") of Taiwan to the Republic of China on 25 October 1945. However, the idea of "Taiwan retrocession" is in dispute. Hsinchu Railway Station
Hsinchu () is a railway station in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. Hsinchu Station is a major station on the West Coast line and the western terminus of the Neiwan line. Structure There are two island platforms and one side platform, as well as the historic fourth-generation European-style station building which opened in 1913, during Japanese rule.
