Hovvdy
Hovvdy is an American Indie pop duo from Austin, Texas. History The duo began their career releasing an EP in 2014. The following year, they released a split with the band Loafer. Hovvdy released their debut album, ''Taster'', in 2016. In 2018, Hovvdy released their second full-length album titled ''Cranberry''. In 2019, the duo released a split with musician Hannah Read, known as Lomelda. The split found Hovvdy and Lomelda covering each others songs. The two also went on a summer tour to promote the split. The duo's third album, ''Heavy Lifter'', was released in 2019. The bands fourth album, ''True Love'', was released on October 1, 2021. Lomelda
Lomelda is the stage name of musician Hannah Read. According to Read, Lomelda is a made-up word that means "echo of the stars". Career Read was raised in Silsbee, Texas. She began her music career playing in bands with her brother and with high school friends. Read's first full-length album, ''Forever'', was released in 2015. In 2017, she released her second full-length album, ''Thx'', with the independent record label Double Double Whammy. The album was co-produced with Read's brother Tommy. It was written over a few months while Read was sleeping in her car. In July 2017, ''Stereogum'' named Lomelda one of their "Bands To Watch". Her next album, M for Empathy, ''M for Empathy'', was released on March 1, 2019. Despite having 11 songs, the album clocks a total of 16 minutes. Double Double Whammy
Double Double Whammy is an independent record label founded by Dave Benton and Mike Caridi in October 2011 whilst studying at SUNY Purchase, a liberal arts college in New York state. History Double Double Whammy was founded by Dave Benton and Mike Caridi in October 2011. The pair started releasing tapes for their own band LVL UP, and local bands at SUNY Purchase, the college they attended in New York state. They considered the label inspired by other indie rock labels such as Merge and K. In 2014 Double Double Whammy released the breakout albums from Frankie Cosmos and, fellow SUNY Purchase alumnus, Mitski. After college the label moved to Brooklyn. Benton left the label in the Fall of 2016, and it is now run by Caridi with Mallory Hawkins, who joined the label in January 2018. Specialist Subject Records
Specialist Subject Records is an English independent record label initially founded in Leeds in 2007, but based largely in Exeter since being revived in 2009. They have been described as a "powerhouse" of DIY Indie Rock. History Specialist Subject started in 2007 to release one 7" by the band Magnus Magnusson. In 2009 the label was revived in Exeter as a method of self releasing Horne's band Bangers, as well as those by friends' bands such as Caves. For some time Specialist Subject had an office in the centre of the city. Since opening a record shop in Bristol in August 2017 the label has been run from its premises upstairs at the music venue Exchange in the Old Market area of Bristol. Saddle Creek Records is an American record label based in Omaha, Nebraska. Started as a college class project on entrepreneurship, the label was founded by Mike Mogis and Justin Oberst in 1993 (as Lumberjack Records). Mogis soon turned over his role in the company to Robb Nansel. The label is named after Saddle Creek Road, a major street that cuts through Midtown Omaha, and the beginnings of a scene whose members included Justin's brother Conor Oberst (then a solo artist, currently of Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Desaparecidos, and Monsters of Folk), Tim Kasher (then of Slowdown Virginia, currently of Cursive and The Good Life), and others. Collectively, they were known unofficially as the "Creekers".
