Houshang Golmakani
Houshang Golmakani is an Iranian journalist, film critic and director. He was born in Gorgan on March 23, 1954. Houshang Golmakani started his professional career in 1972 as a journalist and film critic for ''Tehran Economist''. He graduated in cinema and television from the College of Dramatic Arts of Tehran in 1982. He is one of the three founders of ''Film (Iranian magazine)'', the oldest post-revolutionary film magazine in Iran (founded in 1982 with Massoud Mehrabi and Abbas Yari). In 1993, Film (Iranian magazine) began to print an English version of the magazine for its international readers, FILM International, the only English magazine solely about Iranian cinema. Houshang Golmakani is also a writer and a director. He directed a documentary about the life and works of Mohsen Makhmalbaf, ''STARDUST-STRICKEN; Mohsen Makhmalbaf: A Portrait'' (1996). Gorgan
Gorgan ( fa, گرگان ; also romanized as ''Gorgān'', ''Gurgān'', and ''Gurgan''), formerly Esterabad ( ; also romanized as ''Astarābād'', ''Asterabad'', and ''Esterābād''), is the capital city of Golestan Province, Iran. It lies approximately to the north east of Tehran, some away from the Caspian Sea. In the 2006 census; its population was 269,226, in 73,702 families. History There are several archaeological sites near Gorgan, including Tureng Tepe and Shah Tepe, in which there are remains dating from the Neolithic and Chalcolithic eras. Massoud Mehrabi
Massoud Mehrabi (1954 – 31 August 2020) was an Iranian journalist, writer and caricaturist. He studied cinema at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts of the University of Art (1977–1982). and later passed a Film Production Management course at the Industrial Management Institute (1983–84). Mehrabi started his professional career as a journalist in 1970, writing articles for several papers. From 1982 to 1989, he worked at the economic desk of the Iranian National Television. Abbas Yari
Abbas Yari ( fa, عباس ياری) is an iranian journalist and film critic. He was born in Arak in 1951. He graduated as a cameraman at the Superior School of Cinema in 1975. Abbas Yari started his professional career as a journalist, and worked until 1981 for the newspapers ''Sobh e Emrouz'', ''Tehran Mosavvar'' and ''Kayhan''. In 1968, while still a student, he presided the cultural foundation for youth in his hometown, Arak, being responsible of organizing journalistic, poetry, theater and lectures related events. In the early nineteen seventies, he is interested in theater and writes and directs several plays. Mohsen Makhmalbaf ( fa, محسن مخملباف, ''Mohsen Makhmalbaaf''; born May 29, 1957) is an Iranian film director, writer, film editor, and producer. He has made more than 20 feature films, won some 50 awards and been a juror in more than 15 major film festivals.
