Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu
Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu (; 8 December 1876 – 5 March 1955 in Bucharest) was a novelist of the Romanian interwar period. Life Hortensia Bengescu was born in Ivești, Galați, Ivești, Galați County, on 8 December 1876. She was the daughter of General Dimitrie Bengescu and of Zoe (born Stefǎnescu). She attended high-school in Bucharest and, aged 20, she married the magistrate Nicolae Papadat but her Literature, literary career was delayed because her husband was transferred from town to town (Turnu Măgurele, Buzău, Focşani, Constanţa) and because she had to take care of their four children: Nen, Zoe, Marcela and Elena. She died on 5 March 1955. ''Hydrangea'', () commonly named the hortensia, is a genus of over 75 species of flowering plants native plant, native to Asia and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Korea, and Japan. Most are shrubs tall, but some are small trees, and others lianas reaching up to by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous. ''Hydrangea'' is derived from Ancient Greek language, Greek and means ‘water vessel’ (from ''húdōr'' "water" + ''ángos'' or ''angeîon'' "vessel"), in reference to the shape of its seed capsules. The earlier name, ''Hortensia'', is a Latinised version of the French given name Hortense, honoring French astronomer and mathematician Nicole-Reine Lepaute, Nicole-Reine Hortense Lepaute. Galați () is a county ( județ) of Romania, in Moldavia region, with the capital city at Galați. History Historically Galați is part of Moldavia. In 1858, it was represented by Alexandru Ioan Cuza at the ''ad hoc Divan'' at Iași, in the wake of the Crimean War. Turnu Măgurele
Turnu Măgurele () is a city in Teleorman County, Romania, in the historical region of Muntenia. Developed nearby the site once occupied by the medieval port of Turnu, it is situated north-east of the confluence between the Olt River and the Danube, at the edge of the Wallachian Plain. The first documentary attestation of the town appears in a diploma issued by Sigismund of Luxembourg, king of Hungary, on the occasion of the battles fought here in 1394. The fortress belonged to the Ottoman Empire, intermittently, between the years 1417-1829, being a turkish raya. During the Iancu Jianu's hajduk raids against the Vidin pasha Osman Pazvantoglu, the fortress was burned and destroyed. After the Russo-Turkish war of 1828-1829, the town became part of Wallachia, as a result of the Treaty of Adrianople. The city of Buzău (formerly spelled ''Buzeu'' or ''Buzĕu''; ) is the county seat of Buzău County, Romania, in the historical region of Muntenia.
