Hong Kong Flying Dragons
The Hong Kong Flying Dragons (香港飛龍) were a short-lived team in the Chinese Basketball Association, based in Shenzhen, China. They entered the league for the 2002–2003 season, but finished last and were destined to be relegated to the "B" division. In the "B" division, they would have had the opportunity to compete for promotion back to the CBA, but in the event, the team did not participate in "B" division play but simply folded. The team was also known for acquiring the services of eventual second round pick from the 2003 NBA draft Xue Yuyang. The Chinese Basketball Association (), often abbreviated as the CBA, is the first-tier professional men's basketball league in China. The league is commonly known by fans as the CBA, and this acronym is even used in Chinese on a regular basis. 2003 NBA Draft
The 2003 NBA draft was held on June 26, 2003, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The NBA announced that 41 college and high school players and a record 31 international players had filed as early-entry candidates for the 2003 NBA draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers, who had a 22.50 percent probability of obtaining the first selection, won the NBA draft lottery on May 22, and Cleveland chairman Gordon Gund said afterward his team would select LeBron James. The Detroit Pistons and the Denver Nuggets were second and third, respectively. This draft was the first draft to be aired on ESPN after they picked up the license from TNT. Xue was selected 57th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, who traded the pick to the Denver Nuggets. Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are an American professional basketball team based in Denver. The Nuggets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Western Conference Northwest Division. The team was founded as the Denver Larks in 1967 as a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA), but changed their name to Rockets before the first season.
