''Homeworld'' is a real-time strategy video game developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment, Sierra Studios on September 28, 1999, for Microsoft Windows. Set in space, the science fiction game follows the Kushan exiles of the planet Kharak after their home planet is destroyed by the Taiidan Empire in retaliation for developing hyperspace, hyperspace jump technology. The survivors journey with their spacecraft-constructing mother ship, mothership to reclaim their ancient homeworld of Hiigara from the Taiidan, encountering a variety of pirates, mercenaries, traders, and rebels along the way. In each of the game's levels, the player gathers resources, builds a fleet, and uses it to destroy enemy ships and accomplish mission objectives. The player's fleet carries over between levels, and can travel in a fully three-dimensional space within each level rather than being limited to a plane (geometry), two-dimensional plane. ''Homeworld 2'' is a real-time strategy video game sequel to ''Homeworld'', developed by Relic Entertainment and released in 2003 by now defunct publisher Sierra Entertainment. Its story concerns Hiigara's response to a new enemy called the Vaygr. Its gameplay takes a new direction with the enhancement of its graphics and audio. In contrast to the closely equivalent Kushan and Taiidan forces of the original game, Vaygr and Hiigaran spaceships differ significantly in design and application. Gameplay ''Homeworld 2'' shares the movement system and three-dimensional play area of its predecessor. Units are moved three-dimensionally using a combination of mouse movements and key presses to modify the z-axis of the destination position. ''Homeworld 3'' is an upcoming real-time strategy video game being developed by Blackbird Interactive and published by Gearbox Software. The game is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2023. Gameplay ''Homeworld 3'' is a 3D real-time strategy game set in space. According to the developers, following the responses to partner surveys, the game boasts an extensive campaign mode, giving solo gameplay an important role. As with the other games in the franchise, combat gameplay is built around an effective 3D ballistics system. One of new major gameplay features is the megaliths and the trench; huge space structures that will add coverage strategies for small aircraft. Blackbird Interactive is a Canadian video game development studio based in Vancouver, British Columbia. History Blackbird was founded in 2007 by former members of Relic Entertainment and EA Canada. ''The Ladder'' is the eighteenth studio album by the English progressive rock band Yes. It was released in September 1999 on Eagle Records and is their only studio album recorded with six full time members, following the addition of keyboardist Igor Khoroshev two years prior. The album originated in 1998 when the band visited Vancouver, Canada while touring their previous album, '' Open Your Eyes'' (1997). Paul Ruskay
Paul Ruskay is a sound designer and composer of several video games and films. He currently runs his own sound studio, Studio X Labs. He is most noted as being the composer (with the exception of two tracks) of the game ''Homeworld''. His style for this title differs from other composers of real time strategy game soundtracks in that instead of using climactic orchestral music, he uses an ambient electronic style with Indian influences (Music of India). Arinn Dembo (born February 3, 1970) is an American author currently living and writing in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
