Holstebro Speedway Klub
Holstebro Speedway Klub is a motorcycle speedway club from Holstebro in Denmark. They were champions of Denmark, having won the title in 1997. Track The track is located about 16 kilometres east of Holestebro on Hesselåvej 41B (south of Skave) and is adjacent to the Holstebro Moto Cross track. History 1953 to 1967 In 1953, Holstebro Motor Klub (HMK) converted the grass track at Naur to a 367-metre speedway track. The track was known as the Naur track because it was just outside Holstebro to the west, by the railway line to Naur. The track hosted significant speedway events but unfortunately, due to financial difficulties the HMK suspended activities in 1967. This coincided with the introduction of the speedway leagues in 1967, resulting in Holstebro not having a team in the league. 1985 to present In 1985, the Holstebro Speedway Klub (HoSK) was formed and with the help of the municipality they were able to build a track in Skave (its current location). Charlie Rasmussen Gjedde (born 28 December 1979 in Holstebro, Denmark) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark, who won the Speedway World Cup with Denmark in 2006. Career A former Danish Under-21 Champion, Gjedde has represented Denmark in the Speedway World Cup since 2002 and has appeared as a track reserve in the Speedway Grand Prix series three times. He first rode in Britain for Swindon Robins during the 1998 Elite League speedway season. In 2003, he was part of the Swindon four that won the Premier League Four-Team Championship, which was held on 27 July 2003, at the Abbey Stadium. Individual Individual Championship The 2018 Danish Individual Speedway Championship was the 2018 edition of the Danish Individual Speedway Championship. The final was staged over a single round, at the Granly Speedway Arena. Niels Kristian Iversen won his seventh national title, tying Nicki Pedersen for second on the all-time list. It was also only the second time in the history of the competition that a rider won seven successive titles, with Ole Olsen also completing the feat in 1973. Mikkel Michelsen finished second, with Pedersen third and Kenneth Bjerre fourth. Each rider competed in five rides, with the four top scorers racing in an additional heat. The points from the additional heat were then added to the previous score from the five riders. Individual Individual Championship The 2011 Danish Individual Speedway Championship was the 2011 edition of the Danish Individual Speedway Championship. The final was staged over two rounds, at Esbjerg and Slangerup, and was won by Nicki Pedersen. It was Pedersen's seventh national title, taking him clear of Hans Nielsen in second place on the all-time list. Only Ole Olsen had won more titles. The competition started with two quarter finals, with five progressing to the semi-final from each. The top nine then officially qualified from the semi-final, joining six seeded riders and a wild card in the final series. The final series was held over two rounds, with the top four scorers from the two rounds then competing in a Grand Final. Gert Handberg
Gert Handberg (born 30 May 1969 in Brædstrup, Denmark) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider form Denmark. Career Gert joined Cradley Heathens in 1988 on a recommendation, after winning the Danish Junior Championship during the 1986 Danish speedway season. He rode for the club for six consecutive seasons. In 1992, he became the champion of Denmark. He was a member of the Denmark speedway team when they won the 1991 World Team Cup. He also won the World Under-21 Championship in 1989 and finished 3rd in the 1992 senior world final. Nicki Pedersen
Nicki Pedersen (born 2 April 1977) is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He has won the World Championship in 2003, 2007 and 2008 and was a World Cup winner with Denmark in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. His brother, Ronni Pedersen, has also ridden in the Speedway Grand Prix and World Cup. Career Domestic teams Pedersen began speedway racing aged 11 at Danish club Fjelsted.
