Holland's Next Top Model (cycle 1)
The first cycle of '' Holland's Next Top Model'' premiered on 4 September 2006 on RTL5. Model Yfke Sturm served as the show's first host, with a panel consisting of Dutch photographer and director Carli Hermès, journalist and editor Karin Swerink, and presenter Rosalie van Breemen. Makeup artist Dominique Samuel and creative director Ruud van der Peijl also served minor roles throughout this first cycle. The prizes for this cycle included a modelling contract with Max Models valued at €50,000, a cover feature for ''Glamour'' magazine, and the opportunity to represent the Netherlands at the 2007 Ford Models Supermodel of the World contest. The winner of the competition was 19-year-old Sanne Nijhof from Den Ham, Overijssel. Nijhof went on to win the Ford Models Supermodel of the World contest the year following her victory in ''Holland's Next Top Model'', winning an additional US$250,000 contract with Ford Models. Ford Models
Ford Models, originally the Ford Modeling Agency, is an American international modeling agency based in New York City. It was established in 1946 by Eileen Ford and her husband Gerard W. Ford. Company Ford Models was started in 1946 by Eileen and Gerard W. "Jerry" Ford. Ford was the first company to advance their models' money-owed by jobs that had been completed but not yet paid. The Ford family had the tradition of allowing teenage models who originated far from New York City to stay in their home. The company was the pre-eminent New York agency until John Casablancas of Elite Model Management opened up in the city, leading to the "model wars" of the 1980s. Ford, like many of the original agencies of the 1970s, now has to compete with a broad field of contenders, such as Women, IMG and DNA. Alkmaar
Alkmaar () is a city and municipality in the Netherlands, located in the province of North Holland, about 30 km north of Amsterdam. Alkmaar is well known for its traditional cheese market. Zuidlaren
Zuidlaren (Noordenvelds: ''Zuudlaoren'') is a village in the province of Drenthe in the Northern Netherlands. Zuidlaren has just over 10,000 inhabitants and is situated on natural heightened land which is called the Hondsrug. The village is part of the municipality of Tynaarlo. Formerly the village had its own municipality called Zuidlaren, but in 1998 Zuidlaren merged with Eelde and Vries. Hillegom
Hillegom () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. Hillegom is part of an area called the Duin- en Bollenstreek ("Dune and Bulb Region"). As such, a large portion of the local economy was traditionally geared to the cultivation of bulb flowers. The name Hillegom is derived from the abbey named ''Hijlighem'' (Old Frankish for "Holy Home"). This abbey no longer exists. The current Lord of Hillegom is Jan Six X. Warmenhuizen ( West Frisian: ''Wermehúze'') is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 8 km northwest of Heerhugowaard. Lieshout
Lieshout is a village located in the province of North Brabant in the south of the Netherlands, about 15 kilometres northeast of Eindhoven. There are 4,300 inhabitants, and the village is known for its brewing company Swinkels Family Brewers. The spoken language is Peellands (an East Brabantian dialect, which is very similar to Standard Dutch). Archeology During archaeological excavations on Lieshout's territory several flint objects from the Stone Age were found, as well as features of agrarian settlements from the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. The excavations also revealed remains of Roman buildings and several wells, apparently belonging to a medium scale settlement. The peasant society comprised probably three to four farmhouses with outbuildings, where 30 to 40 people have been living. Moreover, also remains of a medieval settlement were found.
