''Heartstone'' (''Hjartasteinn'') is a 2016 Icelandic drama film directed by Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson. It tells the story of a strong friendship between two preteen boys in a small Icelandic fishing village and the emotional and sexual turbulence of adolescence. It was screened in the Discovery section at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. On 9 September 2016, the film won the Queer Lion at the 73rd Venice Film Festival. It was the first Icelandic film to be shown in a competitive section of the Venice Film Festival. It was also nominated for the 2017 Nordic Council Film Prize and won the 2017 Icelandic Edda Awards. 73rd Venice International Film Festival
The 73rd annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 31 August to 10 September 2016. English director Sam Mendes was the President of the Jury for the main competition. The opening night film was Damien Chazelle's musical ''La La Land''. The Golden Lion was awarded to Lav Diaz's film ''The Woman Who Left''. A new project named Venice Production Bridge was introduced in this edition of the festival. The new project is intended to attract industry professionals and focus on original projects for films, internet, series, virtual reality, and works in progress, in order to help their development and production. It is also meant to work in conjunction with the Venice Film Market which started in 2012. Dyrhólaey
Dyrhólaey (, "door hill island"), formerly known by seamen as Cape Portland, is a small promontory located on the south coast of Iceland, not far from the village Vík. It was formerly an island of volcanic origin, which is also known by the Icelandic word ''eyja'' meaning ''island''. The volcano erupted about 100 thousand years ago during the Pleistocene. The peninsula has an elevation of , and the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse sits at the top of the formation facing the sea. The view from Dyrhólaey is broad: To the north is to be seen the big glacier Mýrdalsjökull. To the east, the black lava columns of the Reynisdrangar come out of the sea, and to the west the whole coastline in the direction of Selfoss is visible – depending on weather conditions. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books.
