''heute-journal'' (roughly ''Today's Journal'') is a television news magazine broadcast on ZDF, a national German television network. History The programme premiered on 2 January 1978 as a late weekday evening 20 minute program. Originally, it was broadcast at 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and at 10 p.m. on Fridays. It has been broadcast at 9:45 p.m. since 1 January 1984.It is common for German television programs to be scheduled at 15 and 45 minutes after the hour. See thZDF schedule In 1991, the running time of the programme was extended to 30 minutes. 15-minute editions were added on Saturdays (in 1992) and Sundays (in 2000). Marietta Slomka (born 20 April 1969 in Cologne) is a German journalist who has been the anchor of TV news show ''heute-journal'' since 2001. Early life and education The daughter of a teacher, Slomka studied international politics and economics at the universities of Cologne and Kent. In 1988, she completed an internship at Roussel Uclaf in Paris. Career After university, Slomka worked from 1991 to 1996 for Cologne Institute for Economic Research (IW). Claus-Detlev Walter Kleber (born 2 September 1955 in Reutlingen) is a German journalist and former lawyer. He anchored ''heute-journal'', an evening news program on ZDF, one of Germany's two major public TV stations. He is also known for his expertise in United States politics and German-American relations, as evidenced by his 2005 bestseller ''Amerikas Kreuzzüge'' ("America's Crusades"). Early life Claus Kleber was born in Reutlingen, Germany. He attended the Otto Hahn Gymnasium in Bergisch Gladbach, completing his ''Abitur'' in 1974. Dunja Hayali (born 6 June 1974) is a German journalist and television presenter for public broadcaster ''ZDF''. Early life and education Hayali is the daughter of Christianity in Iraq, Iraqi Christians from Mosul. Her mother is Chaldean Catholic Church, Chaldean Catholic, and her father is Syriac Orthodox Church, Syrian Orthodox. Hayali herself was a Catholic and was an altar server when she was young. Steffen Rüdiger Seibert (born 7 June 1960 in Munich) is a German journalist who served as head of the German Federal Government's Press and Information Office and as the German government's spokesperson from 2010 to 2021. During his tenure, Seibert was officially ranked as a Secretary of State. From late 2016 Seibert was a member of the German government's cabinet committee on Brexit at which ministers discuss organizational and structural issues related to the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union. ''heute'' (; German for ''today'') is a television news program on the German channel ZDF. The main program is broadcast at 19:00, and includes news, with an emphasis on political news from Germany, Europe and the world, plus 'mixed' news from cultural life or entertainment, and the sports news with an extra presenter. The weather forecast comes up about 19:22 after a break with commercials. For many years, the opening sequence of each broadcast featured an analogue clock, a signature element of the program. Wolf von Lojewski (born 4 July 1937) is a German journalist. Life Lojewski was born in Berlin and studied German law. Later he worked as a journalist for German public broadcasters NDR, ARD and ZDF. Hans-Dieter Kronzucker (born 22 April 1936) is a German journalist and television presenter. Life Kronzucker was born in Munich, the son of an opera singer mother and a father who worked in the tourism industry. He grew up in Cologne and Tegernsee, Bavaria. Bettina Schausten (born 18 February 1965, in Lüdinghausen) is a German journalist. Early life and education Schausten studied literature, history and Catholic theology in Cologne and in Munich from 1986 to 1992.
