Hermética was an Argentine thrash metal band from San Martín, Buenos Aires. It was formed by bassist Ricardo Iorio in 1987 after his previous band, V8, disbanded. Hermética was signed to the independent record label Radio Trípoli Discos throughout their career. The band's initial lineup consisted of Iorio, vocalist Claudio O'Connor, drummer Fabián Spataro and guitarist Antonio Romano. Spataro left the band in 1988 and was replaced by Antonio Scotto. This lineup recorded their eponymous album, the first thrash metal album recorded in Argentina. At this point of their career, Hermética performed mainly in Argentina, except for one concert held in Uruguay. In 1990, they released ''Intérpretes''an extended play which included covers of Argentine rock and tango songs. Both albums were released by Radio Trípoli Discos as a single CD when digital technology became available. Scotto left the band in 1991 and was replaced by drummer Claudio Strunz. Claudio O'Connor
Claudio Alberto Castro, also known as Claudio O'Connor (born April 28, 1963 in Llavallol, Buenos Aires Province) is a thrash metal, groove metal and hard rock vocalist from Argentina. Nowadays he's lead singer of his own band O'Connor and Malón. He was also formerly the lead singer of Hermética. Biography Mark I Claudio O'Connor started in the music in 1984. He was recommended by Walter Almada, ''Horse Power'' bassist. When O'Connor joins the band as vocalist, it's renamed to Mark I. The band performed over 30 shows until its dissolution in 1987. They recorded two demos, one with two tracks ("Una Farsa Más" and "Traidor") and other with 4 ("El traidor", "(Esto es) Mark", "Tierra marginal" y "Las tablas de la ley"). ''Intérpretes'' is an EP released in 1990 by heavy metal band Hermética. It is an album of covers, including songs from artists like Motörhead, V8 and Manal, among others. Production ''Intérpretes'' is the second work produced by Hermética, after the 1989 ''Hermética'' album. At that point, the label Trípoli Discos could provide only 27 hours of recording time. The band accepted the proposal. Lacking new songs, the band recorded a cover album. Bassist Ricardo Iorio commented that they were not really interested in receiving royalties, and thus had no problems in recording covers. One of the songs is a thrash metal version of the tango '' Cambalache''. Iorio commented that the lyrics of the song, written in the 1930s, were still vigent, and close to the lyrics of Hermética. He also played the song as an homage to Enrique Santos Discépolo, a tango artist that influenced him, and pointed that the song is well-known in neighbour countries. Kamikaze (band)
Kamikaze is an Argentine heavy metal band. Their first LP, ''No me detendrán!'', was released in 1988. Their second work had low sales because of the hyperinflation that plagued the country, and the band broke up after the third album. They had a brief reunion in 2003 for a pair of concerts, and a stable reunion in 2011. Biography The initial members of the band were the singer Enrique Gómez Yafal, the guitar player Miguel Ángel Oropeza, the bass player Gustavo Perugino and the drummer Claudio Gabriel Parolari. Their first big concert was on November 14, 1987, at the Roca theater. This concert was selected as concert of the year by a poll between the readers of the ''Metal'' magazine, defeating the last concert of V8 and the first concert of Rata Blanca. ''Víctimas del Vaciamiento'' is the third and last album of Argentine heavy metal band Hermética, released in 1994 by Radio Trípoli Discos. It was the best selling album of the band. Background Hermética's first drummer, Tony Scotto, left the band in 1991 and was replaced by Claudio Strunz, right before they recorded ''Ácido Argentino''. The album was a success, and the label allowed the band to record their new studio album in better conditions. Production Drummer Claudio Strunz had better recording conditions than in ''Ácido Argentino'', as he had both more time to practice the songs and experience with the band. Slayer was an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California. The band was formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, drummer Dave Lombardo and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. Monsters of Rock was an annual hard rock and heavy metal music festival held in Castle Donington, England, from 1980 to 1996, taking place every year except 1989 and 1993.
