Kamikaze (band)
Kamikaze is an Argentine heavy metal band. Their first LP, ''No me detendrán!'', was released in 1988. Their second work had low sales because of the hyperinflation that plagued the country, and the band broke up after the third album. They had a brief reunion in 2003 for a pair of concerts, and a stable reunion in 2011. Biography The initial members of the band were the singer Enrique Gómez Yafal, the guitar player Miguel Ángel Oropeza, the bass player Gustavo Perugino and the drummer Claudio Gabriel Parolari. Their first big concert was on November 14, 1987, at the Roca theater. This concert was selected as concert of the year by a poll between the readers of the ''Metal'' magazine, defeating the last concert of V8 and the first concert of Rata Blanca. Perugino left the band, and he was replaced by Roberto Cosseddu. The band took part in the 1988 festival "Halley en Obras", along with Rata Blanca, Alakran and Juan Antonio Ferreira (JAF). Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. 1989 Riots In Argentina
The 1989 riots were a series of riots and related episodes of looting in stores and supermarkets in Argentina, during the last part of the presidency of Raúl Alfonsin, between May and June 1989. The riots were caused by the rampant hyperinflation and food shortage, and were associated with legal protests and demonstrations. The first riots started in Rosario, the third-largest city in the country, when people demanded supermarkets to give away food; they quickly spread to other cities, especially in Greater Buenos Aires. The national government established a state of emergency. More than 40 people were arrested, and there were 14 dead (20 according to unofficial reports). Eventually President Alfonsín resigned, and president elect Carlos Menem took office six months in advance, in July. ''Metal'' was an Argentine heavy metal music magazine edited from 1984 to 1995. It was published by Magendra, which also published the ''Pelo'' magazine, devoted to mainstream rock and pop. ''Metal'' was the first heavy metal magazine published in Argentina. The initial interviews were taken from foreign magazines, but years later they got their own ones with correspondents, or by telephone interviews. The magazine started as a black & white publication with a few pages in color. More color pages were included as years went by. V8 was an Argentine heavy metal band formed in 1979, one of the first notable Argentine and Latin America bands of that genre. After its dissolution former members have continued their careers starting other heavy metal bands, Hermética, Horcas, Rata Blanca, Logos and Almafuerte. History In the beginning of the 80s, bass player Ricardo Iorio got together some other metal fans and they called themselves V8, whose early influences were Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, Budgie, the Sex Pistols and Black Sabbath. Their first album was the first real piece of Argentine Metal, full in the raw style of their idols. They had much internal trouble, but managed to bring out another classic album in 1984. Rata Blanca
Rata Blanca ("White Rat" in English) is an Argentine heavy metal band, formed in 1986. History Beginnings The guitarist Walter Giardino replaced Osvaldo Civile in V8 for a little time, and left the band when his songs were rejected. His friend Roberto Cosseddu, bassist of Kamikaze, helped him to record a demo tape with those songs. The drummer Gustavo Rowek, who had also left V8 a short time before, declined his projects with Civile and joined Giardino. The session musicians Rodolfo Cava (singer) and Yulie Ruth (bass player) completed the line-up that recorded the demo. The songs were "Chico callejero", "Rompe el hechizo", "Gente del sur" and "La bruja blanca". Seeking stable members, the band took Saúl Blanch as singer, who was working in the hard rock band Plus. José Amalfitani Stadium
The José Amalfitani Stadium is a stadium located in the Liniers neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, near Liniers railway station. The venue is the home of the Argentine Primera División club Vélez Sarsfield and is also known as ''El Fortín de Liniers'' or ''Vélez Sarsfield''. The stadium was named after José Amalfitani, who was president of Vélez Sarsfield for 30 years. The original, temporary stadium was built between 1941 and 1943 in wood, and the current facility was built in cement between 1947 and 1951. It was renovated and enlarged 26 years later in preparation for the 1978 FIFA World Cup. The stadium has a capacity of 49,540 spectators, although it does not provide seating for all of them like most Argentine stadia. Alianza (Argentine Band)
Alianza ( es, Alliance) was an Argentine hard rock band, with former members of Rata Blanca. History Alianza was created by the singer Adrián Barilari and the keyboard player Hugo Bistolfi, along with session musicians. Barilari and Bistolfi left Rata Blanca, rejecting the style shift initiated in ''El Libro Oculto'', with more aggressive heavy metal. Alianza was focused instead in ballads and hard rock. Rata Blanca lost popularity without Barilari, and broke up. Barilari and Bistolfi were invited to a concert of Walter Giardino Temple, the new band of Rata Blanca's leader Walter Giardino. This concert led to a reunion of Rata Blanca, with Barilari and Bistolfi, and the subsequent breakup of Alianza.
