Hellenic Military Geographical Service
The Hellenic Military Geographical Service or HMGS ( el, Γεωγραφική Υπηρεσία Στρατού or Γ.Υ.Σ.), is the Hellenic Military's mapping agency. History Established in 1889 as the “Geodetic Mission” with the purpose of compiling the “Topographic and Cadastral Map of the Country”, the service acquired its current name in 1926. Today it supports both the Greek Army and the general public with cartographic products. From 1966 until the 1980s, the service housed the Armed Forces Information Service, Greece's second state-run broadcaster alongside the National Radio Foundation. The Armed Forces Information Service ( el, Υπηρεσία Ενημερώσεως Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων, ΥΕΝΕΔ, ''Ypiresia Enimeroseos Enoplon Dynameon'', ''YENED'') was the television and radio station of the Greek Armed Forces, operating from 1966 until its conversion to a civilian broadcaster in 1982. The National Radio Foundation ( el, Εθνικό Ίδρυμα Ραδιοφωνίας, ΕΙΡ, ''Ethniko Idryma Radiofonias'', EIR), was the main public state broadcaster of Greece from 1945 until 1970. The agency was founded in 1945, following liberation from the Axis occupation of Greece, as the successor of the occupation-era ''Hellenic Radio Limited Company'' (AERE) and the pre-war ''Radio Broadcast Service'' (YRE). Hellenic Geodetic Reference System 1987
The Hellenic Geodetic Reference System 1987 or HGRS87 ( el, Ελληνικό Γεωδετικό Σύστημα Αναφοράς 1987 or ΕΓΣΑ'87) is a geodetic system commonly used in Greece (SRID=2100). The system specifies a local geodetic datum and a projection system. In some documents it is called ''Greek Geodetic Reference System 1987'' or ''GGRS87''. HGRS87 datum HGRS87 specifies a non-geocentric datum that is tied to the coordinates of the key geodetic station at the Dionysos Satellite Observatory (DSO) northeast of Athens ().
