Hell Chose Me
''Hell Chose Me'' is the third studio album by American deathcore band Carnifex, released February 16, 2010, through Victory Records. Background The band started writing and recording the album ''Hell Chose Me'' in 2009. Upon its release, the album received positive reception and acclaim for its musical styling, structure, and concepts. Carnifex maintained that this was due to having more time during the writing and recording process than their previous albums. On January 5, the band uploaded the first single from ''Hell Chose Me''. They began streaming the entire album to the public on February 10, 2010. On May 28, 2010, the band embarked on a European Tour with supporting acts Veil of Maya and Suffokate beginning in Bochum, Germany and ending on June 19, 2010, at the Summerblast Festival in Trier, Germany. Carnifex (band)
Carnifex is an American deathcore band from San Diego County, California. Formed in 2005, they are currently signed to Nuclear Blast after having been signed to Victory Records. They have released eight full-length albums and three EPs. Since 2022, the band has consisted of founding members, lead vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron, along with rhythm guitarist Cory Arford, bassist Fred Calderon and lead guitarist Neal Tiemann. History Formation and early recordings (2005–2006) Carnifex was founded in December 2005 in Fallbrook, California. They debuted their career with a self-titled EP, which was released on May 18, 2006. It features five tracks and was distributed through Enclave Records. In September 2006, Rick James and Kevin Vargas left the band. Veil of Maya is an American metalcore band, formed in Chicago, Illinois, by members Marc Okubo and Sam Applebaum in 2004. They are currently signed to Sumerian Records and have released six studio albums. Their first four albums are considered to be deathcore, but their fifth album, ''Matriarch'', is considered to be metalcore. They have also been associated with djent. History Formation and demo (2004–2006) Veil of Maya formed in 2004 in Chicago, Illinois after melodic death metal band Insurrection broke up, which led members Marc (lead guitar), Sam (drums) and Kris (bassist) to start up the new project. Slayer was an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California. "Angel of Death" is the opening track on American thrash metal band Slayer's 1986 album ''Reign in Blood''. The lyrics and music were written by guitarist Jeff Hanneman. They detail the Nazi physician Josef Mengele's human experiments at the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II. "Angel of Death" led to accusations of Nazi sympathizing and racism against the band, which they vigorously denied but which followed them throughout their early career.
