Helge Torvund
Helge Torvund (born 20 August 1951) is a Norwegian psychologist, poet, essayist, literary critic and children's writer. He was born in Hå municipality and is brother of sculptor Gunnar Torvund. He made his literary debut in 1977 with ''Hendene i byen''. In 1989 he was awarded the Nynorsk Literature Prize for the poetry collection ''Den monotone triumf''. He received the Herman Wildenvey Poetry Award in 2016. From 2015 he has been writing monthly in the newspaper ''Klassekampen''. One of these articles has been translated and published by York Art Gallery as "Carnal Light". Gunnar Torvund
Gunnar Torvund (9 July 1948 – 14 October 2019) was a Norwegian sculptor. Personal life Torvund was born in Nærbø to electrician Martin Torvund and Inger Synnøve Risvold Helliesen, and he was a brother of poet Helge Torvund. After art studies in Copenhagen and Oslo, he settled in the municipality of Kviteseid in Telemark. He was married to painter Berit Marie Friestad from 1972 to 1990, and later lived with Kristine Brodersen. Herman Wildenvey Poetry Award
The Herman Wildenvey Poetry Award ( no, Herman Wildenveys Poesipris) is a Norwegian award. It is conferred every year on July 20, the birthday of the poet Herman Wildenvey, in an event held at Hergisheim. The award consists of NOK 15,000 and a bronze relief plaque designed by the sculptor Ørnulf Bast. The award is given to a person or institution that has helped foster interest in Herman Wildenvey's poetry and stimulated efforts for his poetic values to hold a greater place in everyday life. The award was conferred for the first time in 1996 by the Wildenvey Society ( no, Wildenvey-selskapet). After this society became defunct in 2014, the award still continued at the initiative of the former directors of the society. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. Klassekampen
''Klassekampen'' ( en, The Class Struggle) is a Norwegian daily newspaper. It describes itself as "the newspaper of the Left." The paper's net circulation is 34,000 (2021), and it has around 111,000 daily readers on paper (160,000 on Saturdays). This makes it the third largest Norwegian print newspaper, based on readership. Chief editor from 2018 is Mari Skurdal. The paper was initially a part of the young marxist-leninist (maoist) movement in Norway. It started out in early 1969 as a monthly periodical published by "a group of marxist-leninists" with Anders M. Andersen as the first editor. It promoted the positions of the Workers' Communist Party (AKP; founded 1973) and its predecessors. ''Klassekampen'' became a weekly in January 1973, a bi-weekly in January 1976 and finally a daily newspaper as of April 1977. It was the official organ of the AKP until April 1991. York Art Gallery
York Art Gallery is a public art gallery in York, England, with a collection of paintings from 14th-century to contemporary, prints, watercolours, drawings, and ceramics. It closed for major redevelopment in 2013, reopening in summer of 2015. The building is a Grade II listed building and is managed by York Museums Trust.
