Helen Nelis-Naukas
Helen Nelis-Naukas (until 1984 Nelis, until 2012 Priinits; born 7 August 1961) is an Estonian fencer and coach. She was born in Tallinn. Her father was prominent Estonian fencer Endel Nelis. In 1983 she graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical Institute's Faculty of Physical Education. She started her fencing exercising in 1970, coached by her father, later her coach was Tõnu Nurk. In 1990 he won Estonian Fencing Championships individually. Since 1983 she is working as a fencing coach. Since 2012 she is working at fencing club En Garde. Students: Marika Koit (Säär), Kristina Kuusk, Nelli Differt (Paju), Katrina Lehis. Her son is fencer Sten Priinits Sten Priinits (born 10 November 1987) is an Estonian fencer. Endel Nelis
Endel Nelis (28 September 1925 Karuse Parish, Lääne County – 12 April 1993 Haapsalu) was an Estonian fencer and fencing coach. In 1950 he graduated from Tartu State University in physical education. From 1950 to 1966 he was a member of Estonian national espadron team. In 1955 and 1961 he was the Estonian champion in fencing. After an active fencing career, he taught fencing at Haapsalu sport school. The 2015 Finnish-Estonian-German film ''The Fencer'', directed by Klaus Härö Klaus Härö (born 31 March 1971 in Porvoo, Finland) is a Finnish film director. Kristina Kuusk (born 16 November 1985) is an Estonian épée fencer. Career Kuusk began fencing in 1992, coached by Helen Nelis-Naukas, Boris Joffe and Kaido Kaaberma. From 2017, Kuusk began training under Peeter Nelis. Nelli Differt
Nelli Differt (née Paju; born 24 July 1990) is an Estonian fencer. She competed in the women's épée event at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Differt graduated from the Haapsalu Wiedemann Gymnasium in 2009. She began training as a fencer in 2000, under the guidance of Helen Nelis-Naukas. In 2012, she graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of Tartu. Differt previously competed at the 2023 European Fencing Championships, winning a bronze medal in the women's individual event. Katrina Lehis
Katrina Lehis (born 19 December 1994) is an Estonian left-handed épée fencer, 2018 individual European champion, 2021 team Olympic champion, and 2021 individual Olympic bronze medalist. Career Lehis began fencing in 2004. Coached by Helen Nelis-Naukas and Peeter Nelis, she was a member of the Estonian Junior and Cadet fencing teams since 2009. In 2014, Lehis won individual gold at the Junior World Fencing Championships and was named Estonian Young Athlete of the Year.
