Heinrich Christian Boie
Heinrich Christian Boie (19 July 1744 – 3 March 1806) was a German author. He was born at Meldorf in Holstein (at the time a part of the Danish monarchy). After studying law at Jena, he went in 1769 to Göttingen, where he became one of the leading spirits in the Göttingen "Dichterbund" or "Hain." Boie's poetic talent was mediocre, but his thorough knowledge of literature, his taste and judgment, made him an inspiration to others. Together with FW Gotter he founded in 1770 the ''Göttingen Musenalmanach'', which he directed and edited until 1775, when, in conjunction with CW von Dohm (1751–1820), he brought out ''Das deutsche Museum'', which became one of the best literary periodicals of the day. In 1776 Boie became secretary to the commander-in-chief at Hanover Hanover (; german: Hannover ; nds, Hannober) is the capital and largest city of the German state of Lower Saxony. Meldorf
Meldorf (Holsatian: ''Meldörp'' or ''Möldörp'') is a town in western Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, that straddles the river Miele in the district of Dithmarschen. Overview Meldorf was first mentioned in writing before 1250 AD. In 1265 it received its municipal rights and served as the capital of Dithmarschen, a peasant republic with Allies in the Hanseatic league dating from 1468. The city was sacked in 1500 AD when King John of the Kalmar Union attempted to conquer the republic. His forces were routed by a force with poor arms and inferior numbers in the Battle of Hemmingstedt. In 1559, the republic was conquered. The city lost its municipal rights again in 1598 and would not regain them until 1870. It was county town until 1970 of the district Süderdithmarschen. After a district reform Süderdithmarschen and Norderdithmarschen merged to Dithmarschen and Meldorf lost the capitalship to the town of Heide. Karl Weinhold
Karl Gotthelf Jakob Weinhold (26 October 1823, in Reichenbach – 15 August 1901, in Bad Nauheim) was a German folklorist and linguist who specialized in German studies. Biography Karl Weinhold was born in Reichenbach, Prussia on 26 October 1823. From 1842 he studied at the universities of Breslau and Berlin, obtaining his habilitation at Halle in 1847. In 1850 he became a professor of German language and literature at the University of Krakow. Afterwards, he taught as a professor at the universities of Graz (1851–61), Kiel (1861–75), Breslau (1876–89) and Berlin (from 1889). On three separate occasions he served as university rector; 1870–72 at Kiel, 1879/80 at Breslau and 1893/94 at Berlin.
