''Hedda Gabler'' is a film based on the 1891 Victorian period play ''Hedda Gabler'', written by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. One of many adaptations of this play, the film ''Hedda Gabler'' was produced, adapted and directed by Matthew John. ''Hedda Gabler'' is an example of realism in nineteenth century play writing, and is one of the world's best known and most performed dramas. The film was shot at Maunsel House. The movie premiered at the Vika Cinema, Oslo on 8 September 2016 to open the Ibsen International Festivalen. A press launch at the Henrik Ibsen Museum on 9 September 2016. the event was sponsored by H+M and Radisson Blu. Matthew John attended the red carpet with Swedish supermodel Marcus Schenkenberg. Sir Benjamin Julian Alfred Slade, 7th Baronet (born 22 May 1946) is a businessman and self-publicist. Life Sir Benjamin Julian Alfred Slade is the son of Sir Michael Nial Slade, 6th Baronet, and Angela Clare Rosalind Chichester. Slade inherited his baronetcy from his father in 1962, and is usually known as Sir Ben Slade. His older brother, Robert, predeceased their father. Sir Ben was educated at Millfield School. Maunsel House
Maunsel House in the English county of Somerset was built in the late 14th or early 15th century. The house stands south of the hamlet of North Newton, in the parish of North Petherton. It is the family seat of the Slade baronets and is a Grade II* listed building. History It is believed that Geoffrey Chaucer wrote part of ''The Canterbury Tales'' while staying at the house. The Ibsen Museum (''Ibsenmuseet'') occupies the last home of the playwright Henrik Ibsen. It is located close to the Royal Palace on Henrik Ibsens gate in Oslo, Norway. The museum in Oslo is closed. According to the website, it will reopen in 2021. Background Henrik Ibsen and his wife Suzannah lived there from 1895 to 1906. When Suzannah Ibsen died in 1914, the home was dismantled and the furniture scattered.
