North Queensland or the Northern Region is the northern part of the Australian state of Queensland that lies just south of Far North Queensland. The City of Townsville is a local government area (LGA) located in North Queensland, Australia. Beaconsfield, Queensland
Beaconsfield is a suburb of Mackay in the Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the Beaconsfield had a population of 5,490 people. Geography Beaconsfields is located north of the Mackay CBD. History The suburb was named after the Beaconsfield sugar plantation. It had a sugar crushing mill from about 1882 to 1893. Mackay Wanderers Soccer Club was established in 1923. In 1928 the Mackay Golf Club established a 9-hole course and club house in Beaconsfield on a leased site. Ayr is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Burdekin, Queensland, Australia. It is the centre of a sugarcane-growing region and the administrative centre for the Burdekin Shire Council. In the , the locality of Ayr had a population of 8,738 people. Geography Ayr is located south of Townsville on the Bruce Highway and away from the (smaller) town of Home Hill. It is north of Bowen and north of Mackay. Ayr is located near the delta of the Burdekin River. Annandale, Queensland
Annandale is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Annandale had a population of 8,574 people. Geography Annandale borders the southern side of Ross River. It is the biggest suburb of Townsville and thus the most populated in the city. History Annandale was the largest planned housing development in Townsville. Construction started in the mid-1970s and was completed in early 2005. Annandale is one of Townsville's newest suburbs and is home to some of Townsville's wealthy, who live more toward the riverbank.
