Harry Yansaneh
Harry Yansaneh (died 28 July 2005) was the acting editor for the '' For Di People'' newspaper in Freetown, Sierra Leone, who died after being beaten up by a group of men. Yansaneh accused the men of working for his landlord, Fatamata Hassan Komeh (who was a Member of Parliament for the ruling Sierra Leone People's Party), who had been trying to evict the paper from their building because their reports were critical to the government. Although Komeh and two other men were arrested after Yansaneh's death, no charges were eventually brought. For Di People
''For Di People'' is a Sierra Leonean Krio-language newspaper based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. It was founded in 1983 by Paul Kamara, who has served as its editor more or less continually since that date. Kamara and other staff have been threatened and imprisoned numerous times in the newspaper's history, most notably in a high-profile seditious libel case following a suggestion that President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah's 1968 conviction for fraud made him constitutionally ineligible for high office. Kamara was arrested, equipment was confiscated from the newspaper offices, including Kamara's car, and the newspaper was shut down for six months. On 28 July 2005, Kamara's replacement as editor, Harry Yansaneh, died from a beating reportedly ordered by a member of parliament. The Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) is one of the two major political parties in Sierra Leone, along with its main political rival the All People's Congress (APC). It has been the ruling party in Sierra Leone since April 4, 2018. The SLPP dominated Sierra Leone's politics from its foundation in 1951 to 1967, when it lost the 1967 parliamentary election to the APC, led by Siaka Stevens. Originally a centre-right conservative party, since 2012 it identifies as a social democratic party, with a centrist tendency. Now it is a centrist party. The University of Sierra Leone is the name of the former unitary public university system in Sierra Leone. Established in February 1827, it is the oldest university in Africa. Paul Kamara (born 12 August 1956) is a Sierra Leonean journalist, football manager, and cabinet minister. Background Kamara was born on 12 August 1956 in Kambia District, Sierra Leone. He is Catholic and a former priest, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sierra Leone. He is married to Isatu Sidratu Kamara, with whom he has three daughters.
