Harrisons F.C.
Harrisons F.C. is a defunct football club from Great Wyrley, Staffordshire, England, formerly members of the West Midlands (Regional) League. Previously members of the Staffordshire County League (South), they moved up to the West Midlands Regional League in 1982 initially playing in Division Two. They finished runners-up in their first season, gaining promotion to Division One. They won that, in 1984–85 earning another promotion to the Premier Division. After a good first season (finishing fourth), they were never again able to finish in the top half of the division. After playing the 1992–93 season under the name ''Harrisons S T S'', they withdrew from senior football in 1990, although some junior sides and Sunday teams carried on playing under the Harrisons name. Great Wyrley
Great Wyrley is a large village and civil parish in Staffordshire, England. It is coterminous with the villages of Landywood and Cheslyn Hay in the South Staffordshire district. It lies 5.5 miles north of Walsall, West Midlands. It had a population of 11,060 at the 2011 census. History Etymology The word "Wyrley" derives from two Old English words: ''wir'' and ''leah''. ''Wir'' meant "bog myrtle" and ''leah'' meant "woodland clearing", suggesting that Great Wyrley began as sparse woodland or marshland. "Great" refers to its dominant size over Little Wyrley. Early history Great Wyrley is mentioned in the Domesday Book under the name of ''Wereleia'', and as early as 1086 is said to have been indirectly owned by the Bishop of Chester St John's as part of the "somewhat scattered holdings" of the Church of Saint Chad in Lichfield. West Midlands (Regional) League
The West Midlands (Regional) League is an English association football competition for semi-professional and amateur teams based in the West Midlands county, Shropshire, Worcestershire, southern Staffordshire and northern Herefordshire. It has two divisions, the highest of which is Division One, a regional feeder for the National League System (NLS) at the eleventh level of the overall English football league system. The league was formed in 1889 as the Birmingham & District League to cater for teams in Birmingham and the surrounding area, but soon became established as one of the strongest leagues outside the Football League itself, with teams from as far afield as Bristol and Wales taking part. The Staffordshire County League (South) was an English football league that existed from 1892 until 1996 and catered for clubs in the South Staffordshire area. It was also known at various times as the Walsall & District Junior League, Walsall & District League, and Walsall Senior League. History The league was formed as the Walsall & District Junior League in May 1892 following a meeting of representatives of various local clubs at the People's Coffee House in Walsall. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium.
